Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

U could also just get below the horizon or turn and run. Also it will eliminate it being effective on half the maps with clouds. Obviously this also stops CAS but then they only need to see the enemy for 1 second to chuck the missile.

why? most planes hug the floor anyway and knowing gaijin they wont remove the crutch that is multipathing

Why would they remove a realistic feature, be it limited from the game. I mean just go play 1 Air arcade and you’ll realise how annoying that is.

Remeber that we have 0 data on the seeker, what it is capable of and what modes it uses.

IIR missiles have the ability to track through clouds at closer ranges that would matter in WT, as do many IR missiles really. Damn I hate clouds in this game xD.

Whatever provides some overall balance. The issue is that Russia got the best SPAA, and then also got the best CAS aircraft until recently and then it was just kinda left where the only counter to a smart Russian team, was another Russian team.

CAMM is very much immune to it IRL. Part of its requirements and targets it faces.

CAMM is mounted on warhsips as the Sea Ceptor it is designed to deal with supersonic Anti shipping missiles and other aerial threats out to the ranges stated.

It’s not really been as prevalent as the game would have you think since the mid-70s. Multipath for example is at 62 metres currently, when we know SKYFLASH from the early 70’s had a MP height sub 30 metres for fleet air defence.

That said, I do think its a good feature for gameplay. But I also think if CAMM were to come that would require a re-evaluation of MP on some missiles. As that’s just as radical as adding unflareable IIR missiles.

I agree that some modern radars can be immune to it, or nearly by using both algorithm and seeker improvements, however this is in the contrast to ECM development, and with things like su33, 48CM is not enough in 100% of the cases. It is literally done if mp was removed.

I mean at some point, almost every nation can start pointing to stuff and saying “give us all of this stuff”. Even when much of it is in limited use, or with specific use cases.

I’m sure the next EFT will have some better IR missiles, maybe even better radar, but just adding in the “peak EFT” would be unwarranted without the addition of other contemporaries for all nations (not just Russia).

Specific to the new SPAA meta, if things are about to get absolutely cooked for everyone, everywhere, I’d personally really like to see the LMUR or even the Hermes as listed above, not just for what it can do stationary, but for what it could do on the Helicopters, which are already a weak competitor now in the Ground RB space.

Others are talking about data-link etc, and if we model that in for all, then LMUR and Hermes now have a real use case, and I think that certainly opens the door to the radar guided Brimstones too.

Like every major change to the gameplay, we’re all thinking about what our favorite nations can get, with little regard to what everyone else will get, and what it will cost the game.

As long as things are balanced, I’m cool with anything, but I hope the devs remain patient in adding things at a reasonable pace.

That’s why I think it should only be implemented for SPAA’s. ECM is a big part not reflected in-game its true.

Those aren’t CAS aircraft and they’d be at the top br’s only up against things like Rafales, Eurofighters, anything with KH38’s, Strike eagles. All of these things are either compensated with countermeasures, weapons systems or both.

dont take it the wrong way I wasnt asking for all of that, it was in response to someone saying there isnt anything better germany italy and the UK could get till the F35 and I was pointing out we are far from the best EFT

It’s unfortunate too, because it wasn’t too long ago that the meta was basically inversed. (limited guided options, no targeting pods for USSR).

The intersection of what rank IX or X will bring to both ground and air is a little terrifying.

E.g. stealth and EW. As a mostly Russia/USSR player, I’d really feel a lot better about playing the game, knowing that the actual, bonified decent EW suites heavily invested into by both the USSR and RuF, could help me survive a little bit longer in either mode. Otherwise, any nation that didn’t invest heavily into stealth (USSR/Ru mostly, RAM specifics not-with-standing basically everyone but the US) is going to be playing on the backfoot.

Also, side note, but all this talk of BOL-pods and different sized CM’s sounds like a luxury, I have nothing to help me defend my plane (even though I should have Khibny or Khibny-M’s on my Su-27SM, Su-30SM, and Su-34) but the CM’s I get in the fuselage. In air, this is already a bit of a problem, and in GRB, with new SUPER IR SPAA’s, is going to be really f*cked.

This is also part of the reason why I’m okay with these basically “super-strelas” as long as the engagement envelope isn’t truly 25KM+, otherwise SPAA’s will be too dominant now, and CAS will have no place in the game (annoying, but fun, hence why I specifically started playing WT and stopped playing WoT).

Oh no worries, just saw a good opportunity to put my 2 cents out in general.

They have the EFT right? Sure it’s pretty gimped but it’s still better than the mid af hornet lol.

I’m hoping that when we get better A2G they can stop artificially nerfing the Typhoon to such a degree

You are right and I expect ASRAAM to be an absolute car crash when they add it.

25km shots easilly flared and having no real range advantage. Locking on to any IR signature (flares, AI aircraft the sun!)

Imagine getting a patch with some cool and unique WWII vehicle or early cold era protototypes instead of absolute top tier variation 0.01 players even reach…

I really lost hope. Most of recent patches exept for tech improvements are pure garbage for me in terms of new content.

And yes I still play it cuz I love War Thunder. This is my all favourite game since its release and I really want everyone to have opportunity to experience the coolest potential WWII or Cold war planes and tanks there are.

thats the issue, most of the marketing focuses on top tier so that is what a majority of new players are looking at

You have been usurped, no new player wants to play low tier.
They tried with the OST pack of Tigers and an Ostwind (great idea) can guarantee the M1 Clickbait outsold it by a pretty large margin.
