Only thing I have to say, apart from Anytime,Baby!
Is that a Mig-29 behind the guy in the profile icon?
(Nozzle reminds me of that)
Don’t get me wrong, I have no clue how they got pegi 12 to begin with, but turning WT essentially in a battlefield clone would definitely make it move up to pegi 16 (“This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life.”).
First of all, there is no way Gaijin would turn War Thunder into a Battlefield clone. That would be way too big of a change to the core gameplay loop of the game to ever be a good idea. As a mode seperate from what we currently know as ground forces, however? Can absolutely see it, especially with how the trailer for testing infantry has blown up.
And, again, I fail to see how it would move up in age rating, provided they are consistent with how crew is portrayed in the rest of the game, especially if Gaijin is considering implementing Infantry in some form, which, given the recent event, seems to be the case. So, either Pegi is, for whatever reason, fine with War Thunder having their weapons ‘knock out’ human characters, or Gaijin doesn’t care about their Pegi rating. In either case, the age rating isn’t stopping them from doing playable infantry. If Pegi finds the violence against human characters acceptable so long as they get ‘knocked out’, then playable infantry should be fine. If Pegi does care, but Gaijin is moving forward with their plans anyway (I feel something like this would have been decided on before they implemented the WW1 event, at least in terms of how it could affect the age rating), then they likely don’t care about Pegi raising the rating to 16. Either way, the age rating wouldn’t preclude FPS Infantry combat into War Thunder.
My mistake on this one. I meant "BF clone"as in yet another FPS game with infantry and tanks, but I was lazy so I just used BF clone as a summary.
The main issue with the pegi 16 rating is this bit:
“This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life.”
Having realistically looking soldiers with realistically looking/perfoming weapons, running around on realistic looking map or even historically accurate maps, surrounded by realistic or historic vehicles. This would fit the pegi 16 description perfectly.
apparently they are going to be force to pegi 16 from what ive heard theres a law getting past that if there is any type of gambling weather with real money or fake it will put it the pegi 16 or up
epic lol if true
- Yes
- No
And yet such a description also matches War Thunder in it’s current state, despite it having a rating of Pegi 12. You can do just that in some of the single player missions, or any time you fight an open topped vehicle, and it’s been that way for years, arguably since the game launched, and indisputably after Gaijin released the two ‘campaign’ DLCs.
Especially after the most recent event, where you can gun down realistic looking humans with tanks, evidence suggests that either Gaijin doesn’t care about their PEGI 12 rating or PEGI needs violence to go beyond ragdolling/unconsciousness to reach “…a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life.”, the latter of which I am honestly leaning towards.
Yes. Would greatly expand the amount of vehicles and nations that can be added, as well as expanding War Thunder’s audience. Should be it’s own separate mode from what we currently know as ground, but so long as it doesn’t replace Ground battles, I’d love to see infantry added.
Ovi is best!
i would love it mostly because i wanna use naplam it would also be cool to finally get to use weapons with their real names and accurate looks/behaviors
I voted no. Not for any deep reasonings, I just know that it would be just another mode that I would play for maybe 1 game and get super bored of, only to never play it again.
I’d rather play games like Battlefield (whenever they finally release the new one) or HLL than whatever mess of a gamemode WT Infantry would be.
I dont think turning war thunder into a palyable FPS at this time is worth it. The game is suppose to be about vehicle combat and intergrated infantry combat into it just sounds like a recipe for disaster. I could definetly see large parts of War Thunder C&Ped over to its own dedicated game though. Imagine battlefield but with war thunder level vehicle combat.
What I can see coming to War Thunder is AI infantry in ARB/ASB and maybe also GRB/GSB (although I fear it just becoming a MOBA)
“While your nation didn’t get what you wanted”
So ok for the US to get 5 top tier aircraft in a span of 4 updates while nations like Britain, Germany and Italy get told “you don’t need another you just got one” but it’s ok for US players to demand anything because the fear of European based countries get’s a good fighter for once
This whole thread of benefits and disadvantages of infantry is just going in circles, again and again.
- pros: untapped FPS market, amazon style all stop shop for combat (infantry, ground, naval), locking player base into a walled Gaijin garden, running out of content (debatable)
- cons: complexity of implementation, tankies crying , age restriction complexities.
On the whole from a corporate point of view it makes sense, esp with Enlisted providing tons of market research beforehand. Lets just get a confirmation from devs if this is serious or not, not debate each minute point over and over again.
“untapped FPS market”
You mean the oversaturated FPS market we currently have ?
The “untapped FPS market” that can litteraly push your game in obscurity if you mess up your launch window and end up too close to the next Battelfield/Call of Duty ?
Almost like there are tons of top tier aircraft for the US and not as much for all nations except for China

I haven’t forgotten, even with subs there are like 10 top tier jets left for the UK max.
The US gets loads of aircraft because the US has loads of aircraft
