Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

I knew theyd be no where near IRL performance with regard to seekers, but I wasnt expecting them till much later in the year, maybe Dec or early next year. But now im wondering if we could see them next major

If it helps I did think about it, and the F/A-18E

Time to swat everyone else with ASRAAM

Absolutely, getting kinda fed up with Aim-9M actually.

yea

I would tolerate it more if they just fixed the lock range on it. I understand why they didn’t fix it in the past during the gripen meta, but now there’s no reason not to.

Yeah, that is the main area that drives me nuts with them

Maybe if more US mains complained they would fix it :]

i mean the 4 gen IRs got added almost 2 years ago soo… at some point its expected to see new IR missiles people right now is really used to how evade the missiles we have its also expected a little step up when we talk about IR missiles we got that step up last year with radar missiles in june for me it makes sense that this year in the same exact month newer IRs could come.

The AIM-9X bl 1 is significantly worse than other IIR missiles in flight performance, and the IIR seekers already in game just have both suspension and FOV narrowing IRCCMs together, so it wouldn’t be overpowered against the other missiles I mentioned.

Truthfully, I don’t disagree. AIM-9X Block 1 lacks datalink like some of the other IIR missiles and I wouldn’t mind seeing it come before other IIRs. But Smin did say we can expect to see all of them coming together.

To my understanding this isn’t true. That’s just dual irccm. IIR seekers in-game are seekers like the SPIKE ER, KH-38MT, AASM, AGM-65D and PARS3 which cannot see flares at all. They have a much more miniscule IFOV of 0.01. They work completely different than something like Python 4 in the files which has both suspension and FOV narrowing.

I think he means the Type 81 SAM is both

Expand on that?

Also the basic variant also completely lacks the revised motor of the Later -9Xs’ so it won’t have more energy than the -9M does now, or accelerate better as they literally came from remanufactured -9M’s that were in government inventory. So non-HOBS related performance is fairly similar, considering that they likely won’t be changing seeker ranges (and anything they do change the -9M should also receive, considering outstanding reports) either so it’s not even an upgrade over a -9D / -9L for a unaware target, and a slight improvement over the -9M for a defensive one due to the higher G-loading available while the motor is burning.

It really doesn’t have much going for it in comparison to other 5th gen IR missiles, since logistics and IOC dates aren’t taken into account for WT purposes.

It has both forms of IRCCM currently

no f2 this is real

Okay but is that incorrect? They did a whole devblog about how the seeker actually works. Or is it supposed to be IIR?

Thank you for the smile, Tris.

I dont know

But I wonder if Shay might be confusing that?

I think it would be fair then to say that AIM-9X Block 2 should be added since if all IIR missiles are coming to top tier aircrafts then it would probably be the worst IIR and not anywhere within the pack if Block 1 is added.
