Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

huh, guess I just be uneducated about such things. Coolio.

Edit: yep from what I can tell looking at a looong document, 2 SLAP rounds in use for the M2

Meanwhile A-1H players risking life and limb, to finally fulfill their destiny of deploying tactical lavatories to the grunts on the line.

Yeah, that was something I included in the suggestion, that whilst its of little value vs tanks, we have other weapons in game for the joke of it

Another funny addition would be those wooden munitions.

Brits casually watching Jerry build a wooden dummy airfield, only upon its completion to drop a wooden bombs on it.

Masterclass in trolling.

I’m rereading it and it says there will be a large scale closed beta…. that means they will be testing it and possibly adding it. Unless every april fools update has a large scale beta

Medieval thunder, yes, please!

It’s not the first time they used the word testing.

Can you send some where it mentions a large scale beta test coming later after the event? I’m want to compare them.

Here's a remark from their sail event

Thus I am 92% certain that this will just be for April fools.

Honestly man. I find it hard to rule anything out anymore.

There’s been so many times over WT’s lifespan we’ve been given things we either never expected to get, or outright got told we wouldn’t get.

Yeah and the Silent Thunder article talked about a test for an entire new game. Not an addition to WT. Wanna tell me where that new game is now?

If you think they would sacrifice a significant amount of potential revenue and potential revenue to add infantry to the game? Feel free to do so. I just like to think logically, seeing how much Gaijin likes money.

lol the point is Submarines are being added to the game! I never said there would be a game mode just for them are you capable of reading between the line even a little bit??? They did multiple Sub events that’s the point, the other point is what makes sense for the context of War Thunder to be added to the live game (MBTs, Heli, Subs ext ext)…Infantry (two events atm) or My Little Pony that is not REAL and make believe??? You already know…no need to reply.

Which has nothing to do with the article I posted about Silent Thunder, which said:

“Silent Thunder: the first test of the new game”

“In the test version of the game”

You talk so much about what makes sense in the context of WT, yet you completely ignore half of what makes sense for Gaijin to do because your own hype/bias towards infantry being added.

Silent Thunder wasn’t as much a test for submarines as it was a proof of concept. The mechanic they tested in that mode was game ending nuclear weapons.

The later escort mode was an actual test for submarines. It should be pretty obvious that Silent Thunder wasn’t meant to really test submarines as it a) didn’t contain regular ships and b) didn’t contain any of the usual WT gameplay.

Similarly Mobile Infantry was not a test for infantry and this upcoming event won’t be a test to see if they can combine WT and Enlisted. WT is a vehicular combat game, Enlisted is a traditional Battlefield-like FPS. There are plenty of reasons not to add infantry to WT and there are way too many gameplay aspects that don’t mix well with WTs vehicle centered gameplay.

For a Battlefield-like shooter you have to make the game focussed on the infantry and give vehicles a secondary role.

Personally, rank IX for 4.5 gen fighter aircraft with AESA radar & advanced armaments (2014 ~ present), 4th gen main battle tank, long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) and 5th gen fighter aircraft (2015 ~ present)

well, I guess we can agree to disagree…simple as

From a lot of what I read online the last hour or so, people between 10 and 24 year old are usually the most likely to spend money on/in video games. Imagine if Gaijin lost the ability to market the 12-16 year old age range.

I don’t think Infantry would make up for that new gap.

That’s definitely one factor, Enlisted is 18+ after all.

There are many other concerns though, like engine limitations, lack of maps with environments fit for infantry, lack of even basic FPS/TPS mechanics (let alone stuff like shared control of vehicles, entering and leaving vehicles, manually switching seats, etc), huge balance concerns, War Thunders gameplay and game modes being tailored for vehicle vs vehicle combat rather than infantry + vehicle cooperation, etc
