yeah, still i think some of tech on NGAD, will be found in earlier version on the B-21

that would be something huh

I mean the production of Tempest tech demo

ah, in that case like @Ace_of_LuftWaffe said, NGAD prototype flew 2020

True but equally tech developed for the F-35 will be on the B-21, and obviously the basic design is that of the B-2.

I mean Northrop call it 6th gen, but the Air Force have called it 5th gen before and at the end of the day it’s a strategic bomber, it will fly in long straight lines and carry lots of heavy explosives, it’s fundamentally the same as a B-29 just sneakier

We haven’t seen the NGAD yet, claims of it flying could be simple propaganda. Tempest is more real than NGAD at this point. (I’m not saying their claims are false but it’s hard to believe something when you can’t see any evidence)

NGAD is a highly-secretive program. They’re not gonna release photos just to please forum posters lol

and claims of tempest being built could be propaganda, goes both ways.

I’m aware of that.

I’m just saying it’s not sufficient proof that it’s true, not that there is proof he is lying. There is a precedent for both stringent secrecy with projects and lying about specifications.

It might also not be an intentional lie at all, but perhaps a misinterpretation. For example an unarmed aerodynamic test aircraft for it is not exactly “NGAD already flying”, but still can be considered a demonstrator for the project flying. In this case it is just semantics, but information is not enough for more than assumptions on what this is.

Going from absolutely no aviation industry to surpassing a well established one is still a feat you have to admit that going from licensed MiGs to domestic 5th gen J-20 in such a short time is rather impressive.

It’s an aircraft that appears to have a weapons bay, suggesting at least allocated space for armament, stated to be 6th gen like the alleged NGAD prototype, but actually photographed. As for the “outdated avionics” we have no idea what’s inside that plane, all we know is tat it’s a 6th gen prototype that at the very least has the airframe completed.

We can speculate about what’s a “real” 6th gen, but that’s only speculation once again about something that is literally just a marketing term roughly translated to “somewhat superior to [lower number] gen aircraft”

But if NGAD flew with different specifications, wouldn’t that make it a different plane?

BAE Tempest is a demonstrator separate from GCAP. The actual GCAP has no known finalized design yet.

An official statement from a USAF representative is proof. Also there’s no misinterpretation, he said they were conducting flight testing with it, and that it broke multiple records. If you want to disprove him, again, tell that to a news outlet and provide proof, anything else is personal opinon.

Sure, while stealing a lot from other countries isn’t really impressive to be fair.

Exactly, just like we have no idea what the NGAD looks like but we know it flew, everything else is speculation and personal opinion, in my original comment i told you this was my personal opinion that I couldn’t prove, just like you cannot prove Will Roper is lying.

What are you talking about? We have no specification, the only thing we know is that it flew, that’s it.

Yeah, GCAP is a combining of both the Tempest and the F-X program so it’s probably a bit of a mess of different technologies right now, demonstrator is expected 2027 so probably more like 2029, and then a production aircraft in service is planned for 2035 so more like 2040

Though saying that there has been a decent amount of cooperation recently between Japan and Europe with each having different areas of expertise so who knows maybe this thing goes alright

I know there’s a new AAM being co designed by MBDA UK and Mitsubishi, with Japan providing advanced radars and the UK providing more advanced missile airframes that will likely end up much better than the Meteor currently is, called the JNAAM
