It is more controllable at low speeds, has easier to control PSMs, has more responsive canards (eft needs theirs fixed, currently underperforming), the only places it looses to the EFT in a dogfight is thrust (meaning it struggles to keep up in a vertical but you can wiggle out of one easily) and energy retention, but besides that it’s simply better (and that’s coming from a EFT fanboy)
Meteor isn’t the be all end all of bvr missiles. It’s worse at closer ranges than aim120c because it’s a ramjet v.s. a rocket booster.
I haven’t played the matchup at all as i only have the german eurofighter. Good to know. thanks.
According to Statshark the J-10A actually slightly outperforms the EFT and Rafale at subsonic speeds in terms of max turn rate, although this is by a very tiny amount (below 0.5 degrees per second).
EFT and Rafale both are better at supersonic speeds though, by quite a bit.
I know, but short range missile can make this up, since you won’t bring only Meteor with you, and by that time, IRIS-T and ASRAAM should be in game.
Not how it works, the Meteor has a throttlable motor, if by close range you mean <5km headon shots then sure it will be marginally slower off the rail but operating at high capacity they are equal (besides the Meteor has a better seekerhead so i trust them over an AMRAAM)
Well, even german eurofighters carry both aim120 and meteor for the reason’s i mentioned.
Kinda new to the game but it seems to me long range missiles like the meteor are not a thing in game, are yall saying we should implement them?
The seeker is much better on meteor, but it’s more like within 20km or so. It just takes longer to accelerate, this allows to to have much more energy in terminal tho because it doesn’t stop accelerating when the motor burns out like aim120. It just keeps going because ramjet go brr. When you have 160-200km of range, im not sure how much 20km and closer matters.
no, I think it’s about how to deal with this probably super op missile in the future.
we have nothing to equal it, except
but clearly huge monster missiles will also bring more problems
Meteor probably won’t be in the game until early 2026, we’re mostly just speculating.
Ive been playing extensively between EFT and J-10A (my picks, plus the taiwanese mirage bonus) and my friend has the F-2000A and Rafale, between us we have had over 70 mock battles between both j-10 vs EFT and J-10 vs Rafale and I perform better than both of the eurocanards to the extent of a 7/10 success rate against EFT and 8/10 for rafale
I’d say my friend is roughly equal in subsonic dogfighting capabity and we both have similar KBM/Control setups so the testing is as fair as I could make it
Things I never see at the top of Air Sim Battle leaderboards is the J-10A or any Chinese fighter. Even the Su-34 manages to get into the top three sometimes. And I don’t think having a 200km missile is the threat decider. Would be no different than slapping an AIM-174 into an F-15E or F/A-18. We know it can reach 200km plus now.
Because no one plays it in SIM due to low Cm count and previously mediocre teams, i believe tbe mirage is favoured instead
Because not a lot of people play Chinese fighters.
Other than the J-10A all you get is the J-11A, which is horrible.
You usually see the Mirage more.
It didn’t help that the hud was bugged up until recently as well.
One player in a couple hundred thousand players doing well doesn’t just equate to the J-10A being better. I feel like we could be seeing it dominant leaderboards if that was the case.
Then why would the US DoD be desperately developing a counter to the PL-15 if it wasn’t a signifigant threat in the pacific/SCS theater?
We are talking about dogfighting performance, not overall capability mate
Solo is quite different with normal PVP, in normal game mode, speed do matter more, that why one is 13.7 and one is 14.0.
but yeah, J-10A is a good plane
