Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

I don’t believe they ever confirm sales, it’s always “proposed”, but it’s safe to assume the order was accepted and has or will be fulfilled

I understand but increasing it by 0.3 still leaves a lot of compression especially for planes that are 13.0 since they either have fox 3 like the F14B, fox 1 and fox 2 like the mirage 4000 or only fox 2 like the Netz
It makes it hard for people that want to play those brs and really unenjoyable
Am sure some people that mostly play air would prefer a whole br extension instead of a 0.3/5 br

Its not got TVC but has a wider aspect seeker, improved IRCCM and a stronger motor giving an increase in range.

Could have different computers and stuff than a GBU-53 carrying US hornet (aka a very modern hornet, 2020+, 2023/4 if 79v4)

For balance its likely gaijin will ignore it and let them fire it considering other vehicles were given that treatment.

Do you know what BOL pods were used on the US hornets if they used them? I don’t know if the US used the BOL-500

True, all we know is that they received A2G capability during MLU 2, not the specifics of what weapons, it very well could just be JDAMs, the HARM purchase is for the F-35 too, it may be usable on the F/A-18s I don’t know, the HARM isn’t even in the game yet so it’s a bit premature to be considering

No, but probably whatever BOL type the navy has, likely same as F-14B

Hm actually I just thought of a possible candidate for the “copypaste US tank”: Pershing captured by the PVA(PLAGF in Korean war). It is resided right next to the T-62 No.545 which the game did feature in the basement of the central military museum.
I took this photo in 2023 when i was back home.

Spoiler

How many CM per pod if you know? Also what targeting pod does the US hornets use?

I should also mention that Finland have JSOW and JASSM for their F/A-18s but they are a world away if they ever do come so I didn’t mention it before

Litening or Sniper pods, and 160 most likely, since I’m assuming it’s the same as the BOL pods on the F-14B

It’s 160 IIRC but I could be wrong

Yeah probably SAAB BOL-500 Finland chose them since they were the best option for additional protection alongside the upgrades to the ECCM of the F18

Don’t worry, USAF F-15E can carry 5 JASSM vs 2 for everything else

Honestly by the point we use those sweden should have access to 18x Brimstone via the gripen. Gripen E or NG with 7 meteor and 2 IRIS-T should actually be decent enough to replace the F18

Given Finland was approved a NATO membership, it should in theory be able to wield any A2G weapon that the hornets has IRL - and even more likely for WT.

Exactly, too far away to really need mentioning, kinda like the HARM.

Does the Gripen carry HARMs btw?

I might believe at least R-73M better R-73/R-73E

2 russian fighter aircraft could received R-73M.

F/A-18C MLU 1 without Air-to-Ground armaments and Litening targeting pod

Still think its a sad thing to realize that we may get a prem Fin hornet before we get a Hawk.51A with aim 9m lol

Unfortunately, the upgrades were performed before they were a NATO member and the upgrades were nonstandard so it’s not guaranteed that they can use any weapons other than the specific ones mentioned, those being JDAM, JSOW, and JASSM.

And as far as I’m aware there are no further plans to upgrade the F/A-18 in Finnish service, with the being replaced by F-35s
