If it’s already DoA like you say, why make everyone else wait even longer for it, Sweden could actually use it right now, it would be their best jet, they “need” it more than the US does, I get wanting stuff for your tree, but trying to deny it for others for vain, selfish reasons is not something that should be done

The recent year we have seen major prizes for the US, Sweden, Israel and Germany, as well as smaller prizes for France, Soviets(two), the US(two) and China. I would probably say the major reward is most likely French followed by Italian, Chinese, or Soviet.

Additionally it may come in the form of a light or medium/MBT. Since BP vehicles of this category can be traced back to last winter.
I could understand it if it was the F18A vs the C but i feel that gaijin will likely add the late F18C since that has the upgraded engines as Finland and Switzerland didn’t buy the F18 until the engines were upgraded iirc.
I think the F18A will likely be added as a premium around 13.0

An American tank for France as the main prize? Not sure what we could get that would be BP worthy copy paste, perhaps a standard M46 or M47.
The only silver lining here is Smin stating, sometime last year, that no one will see it before the US. That doesn’t mean they won’t come at the same time but again; after the shade the EFT/Rafale fanboys threw at US mains for getting skipped out of a plane that wouldn’t have diminished their arrival, ehh. To my understanding and from what people have said here, Sweden has another Grippen model they could get instead so they are good for an update.
Another Gripen model in about 2 years, if you bothered paying attention we need 5th gen missiles of which we dont. So again its unlikely we will see another gripen until we get to 5th gen missiles on 4th gen fighters.
Though its likely that by December next year we might see IRIS-T.
Yeah, they’re definitely adding the C, as the A is too old and the decal clearly wasn’t an E
There is an issue with adding the A though and that is that it can only use TV guided A2G weapons, they may still add it, but it wasn’t until the C that it got a laser designator pod, still an F/A-18C DS is the US aircraft I most want.
Finland is also more likely to get an F/A-18 seeing as Sweden doesn’t have any really good CAS, and I can see them making an F-18 premium as that would sell like mad, and they do love Finnish premiums

Finland will have more air premiums than actual TT stuff and honestly i wouldn’t be suprised if the Finnish F18 is a event/prem

Yeah, it would be insane for someone else to get it before the US, but it’s a similar situation to the German MiG-29, there was a lot of backlash for not adding it at the same time as the Russian one, and I don’t see them trying that road again
you should be happy about that too as like with the F-15E because of the F-15I they had to give you the better engines, the same is true with the F/A-18C, if Finland gets it, it will have to be with the better engines, which means that’s what the US will get too
YPR-765-PRAT is doable but it would be at a BR where previously no BP vehicle was.

The more awful option would be for gaijin to add it the way they did the AV8B or pull a gripen C move where they tease the C but then try to give the home nation the worst version because they didn’t add the older model sooner. Both options are something im against.
Doesn’t really matter depending on the model finland will have the worst F18 next to the swiss. No CAS which means no BOL or the new radar that the MLU 2 added.

That remains to be revealed by Gszabi I suppose, but for now I think that either of those guesses could be plausible.
Although, I sincerely hope that the U.S. will not receive captured German tanks such as the Kingtiger anytime soon.
I could see them doing it again. It’s an iconic fighter for the US like the Mig-29 is for Russia. In regards to the F-15E and I, the F-15 was already in the game. The F/A-18 isn’t. Its an “adding another variant” vs. “Introducing a brand new airframe iconic to the country of origin”.
So launch the F/A-18 to the US first, then in the next update or two, add it to Finland and Germany and whoever else had one.
