They will claim that the F-35A JASDF is different than other lightning IIs when gen5 comes around.
Japan now getting the German air treatment does not bode well.
I mean, gaijin might as well give them a su-27 at this stage since…they did actually consider it. Then its authenticity didnt end at tier 4, still copies but a different combo.
Yeah, it’s really weird… The way it is they could’ve done one of two things:
- Split the subtree into Fighter and attacker line
- Folder the Alpha Jets and F-5s and fit all into one Thai line
But I suppose they wanted none to get the lower foldered RP cost maybe?
This whole implementation seems a bit sad. I was generally very excited for the Thai subtree for years already, but almost all of these aircraft have some glaring issues that we didn’t even get a second dev to fix…
I didn’t say add none of it (though I’d have preferred that), I said they should’ve added the actual Japanese options as well, possibly cutting out some planes like the F-84 in favor of the T-4. Right now it just feels very lazy with its implementation, especially since not all of the vehicles have their actual loadouts.
Its just another unfortunate reminder that Gaijin seemingly does not care about subtrees. :\
IMO, the issue isn’t that there is a Thai sub-tree, it’s just that they picked the December update for it. Like if this happened last update, I think nobody really would have minded. It’s just typically the last update of the year is hyped up as the biggest in terms of vehicles/content/etc and this time around it just felt like a normal, smaller update.
Obviously the EFT and Rafale are big additions but that’s just 4 nations getting a top tier? Compare that to Air Superiority with 3 F-15A/J, 2 Gripen A/C, Su-27, J-11, Mirage 4000, not to mention the sick teaser with legendary Troy Baker doing the voice over. Like even the teaser this time around had no mention of the Thai sub-tree like Benelux or Hungary did, which feels also makes the sub-tree feel more like an afterthought. Do Thai folks not deserve some spotlight? Imagine if this update had Su-30SM, F-18E (or F-15C/E with AESA), F-15I with AESA, F-2, Gripen E, J-11B or J-10B, along with 3 EFT + 1 Rafale? Something along those lines would have been really hype.
Like I’m glad for Germany as they were sorely lacking a proper top tier fighter, but it’s a bit perplexing how the update turned out. I am really worried that next update is going to be Thai Ground and as a result again no F-2 as “Japan should be happy they got a sub-tree”. Like, I know people asked for a sub-tree but it’s the Japanese tech tree and Japanese vehicles should take priority!
Supposedly it’s already done a couple months ago (grain of salt as can’t verify from a grainy picture) but even if that one is fake, I wouldn’t be surprised. The Type 10 model was done at least 6 months before as it was leaked in that one huge mega leak of 2021 and showed up in the December 2021 update later that year.
Which is definitely strange as at least with Seek and Destroy, the argument that Germany didn’t have anything besides maybe the Swiss F-18s was a valid point.
This might just be my personal opinion, but I like the Thai F-84G.
Its a perfect example for what the subtree is supposed to do, adding missing capability (CAS) and filling previously unfilled BRs (7.7). Its also a rather prominent aircraft in Thai service, gets the most beautiful camo of any F-84 in game and has a connection to Japan, with 18 of the Thai F-84s having been refurbished by Kawasaki.
It’s also the only aircraft that is implemented perfectly despite the rushed, single dev update, which I guess is just because of how simple it is.
People miss this point a lot acting like Gaijin intentionally left out the aircraft they wanted.
What makes you think this or are you just joking
What did they say wrong? We had 1 single dev server from Tues-Fri and the update the following Monday. Compared to the atypical last update that had the dev server stretch over multiple weeks, the implication was things were rushed and not given proper time given the amount of unresolved bug reports.
My problem is now this is going to be my 4th F-84G
Was there more than one dev server?
Regarding J-10A, I think it is because Gaijin wanted to seperate the heavy fighters (J-11) with the light fighters (J-10A, Mirage).
I still think it would be better just to make the PLAAF fighter line branch off into two lines once you reach J-11, so underneath J-11 would be J-11A while J-10 is in a seperate line.
This would make much more sense.
Shenkoi or Shenyang are responsible for Flanker derivatives, and when you reach the end you will get J-35A.
Chengdu are responsible for J-10, J-20.
Fair enough, I just spent too long focusing on the issues with all other planes in the subtree that it’s nice to have something simple that is implemented exactly the way it should.
And I really like the camo it is arguably the best looking F-84G
4th out of 14 operators like people need to understand the US in the 1950-60s was a major world exporter, most countries after WW2 was broke.
Sorry I read it as 1 dev = 1 game dev rather than dev server
With how some of the additions are, I’d believe it.
Don’t really care. It’s boring. And unnecessary when there are other options.
Oh dont worry i am sure the opportunity for making the super late model Thailand F-5s into an event vehicle is not lost on gaijin.
Knowing Gaijiggles, that’s exactly what’ll happen.
