Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

Is there any major difference besides Avionics between the A and C?

slight performance increase iirc

probably not worth adding as a seperate missile

the A has the APG-65 and the C uses the APG-73

apart from that I didn’t dive too deep into it’s technology

the A also has much worse engines apparently, those alone would probably warrant 12.7

Ill do some looking see what I can find, maybe some threads on the Hornet

so, does the western planes have any things similar? multi-element seeker but not IIR
besides, it reminds me of an article from UK pilot who used early AIM-9M, they complained a lot about it.

It if doesn’t get an HMD, it’s baffling that it doesn’t get added lol.

Any documentation about that? According to this post, F-2 got HMD when F-15J got HMD when it got AAM-5.

If it’s really true that it was only used on ADTW, that still leaves some wiggle room for Gaijin to use for production variants.

Can you tell me about that article?

Funny enough is F-18E weighs more than an F-4 Phantom, while having not particularly upgraded engines.
When F-18C weighs less while having more powerful engines than the Phantom, yeah it gets up and go.
Super Hornet is something else.

Personally, depends on gajin

35G maneuvrability, maybe

Flare resistant higher AIM-9M

F/A-18A with AN/APG-65

F/A-18A+ fitted AN/APG-73 RUG I radar like F/A-18C/D 1990’s

But F/A-18C/D in 2000’s ~ late 2010’s outfitted AN/APG-73 RUG II radar

though, aim-9m’s irccm type is hard to buff, it turn to IOG when see flare.

I dont know

The royal air force in operation Granby, the first gulf war, 1990-1991
it’s a long report, I don’t know which page, I saw it’s abstract in another article about AIM-9M

The SEPv3 for ground, but that is unrelated.

I just want Gaijin to stop neglecting top tier ground in general lol.

Finally found its engines its the F404-GE-400s which have roughly 1550lbf less each the TWR of the F/A-18A with 2 9Ms and 6 AIM-7Ms is .85 with full fuel 75% fuel its TWR increases to .92

yea that’s not too good

No its not great but not asssss bad as I was expecting, so maybe 12.7 is where itd go

i mean EFT/rafale vs Su-33 wich doesn’t even have r-77…as if f-15c vs su-27sm wasn’t bad enough…RIP USSR TT top tier air…

We’ll see, I hope for that at least

I tend to find the pre-amraam versions of those US jets more interesting than the later ones

just because of the BR
