Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Honestly i hope ECM and ARMs come this update with major changes to ARB and EC modes as it would add some interesting game play and the air modes have long needed some TLC and refreshing

While ARMs could be interesting, I really wouldn’t want them to be added, especially not if planes get ECM at the same time
The SPAA life is already hard enough the way it currently is

Sure, but we’re talking Gaijin here and the idea of putting C&P easy additions as a “here Japan gets something this update” seems problematic.

I think there’s only so much Gaijin can add one update and they focus on the bigger nations, less because they have more things to add, but more because that’s where the big spenders are. I mean look at the #1 seller in the Gaijin store (US Abrams). If you add more US vehicles you get more money than if you add more Japanese vehicles.

In terms of sub-tree, I’d rather they add one-off vehicles here and there to fill gaps, instead of a full dedicated air and ground tree that will take away enough resources to also add in Japanese vehicles frequently.

Thank you for this. My Russian is lacking, and I was about to have to start painstakingly translating it to understand it better. I couldn’t find a single source outside of MTVT that claimed an upgraded version of the UD was even intended in 1989, let alone specifics.

Even if such a version did exist, and was desired to be added, it would then have to be T-80UD —> T-80UD (1989). Both would still have transmission problems, for minor differences in protection.

Please welcome the AS 42 with some modern(and luxury) flavors

That’s honestly the way to go for the vehicles of loads of nations. Gaijin already mentioned they had plans to use Indias equipment in such a manner (even tho we have yet to see an indian vehicles in another tree).
I still think Japan could use a “dedicated” sub-tree however

I hope we do get that as a tank. Current 292 is just a little too disappointing.

W/ Smin 's clarifications today abt subtrees, it 's possible gjn may implement one to JPN techtree w/o making a new branch.

Lol yes. Gaijin where are the funny cars?

We don’t even need a “Toyota” TT to get funny cars when actually militaries could get used them themselves.

Ah dang, you caught me in my grippy

I suck with the Gripen, too much of a boom and zoom guy

Tornado F.3 with AIM-9Ms when?

Or Gaijin is going to be nice to us and give us Khod for 25T/39 and give us SM3 with SOLT-25.

They may test ECM with the Su-25SM3s Vitebsk-25

I mean, they are kinda already testing ECM with the IRCM on the Su-39 and Su-25T

We’ve had IRCM on helicopters for ages, so that very unlikely the case.

Imo, it’s only fair. The Su-25 kinda sucks flying out beyond about 10.0. These measures would help assess if certain concepts, ECM or IRCM, help with survivability in a significant manor, and if they warrant BR increase.

Well yeah, but having IRCM on a plane is a different matter than on a Heli. Helis don’t benefit nearly as much from the IRCM as planes

I actually like the subtree concept, though I do think it’s silly that something like the SA Gripen was out of the ordinary, since this makes a lot of sense to me, considering SA was already a British subnation. Similarly, I found it weird there was no Hungarian Gripen for Italy, despite the low effort, though this was likely to prepare for a whole dedicated line added later.

I feel like it’s nice to have a sub nation assigned to a single subtree, and even have a dedicated line if the space is there for it.
As far as additions go, I don’t feel like any subtree so far has hindered those of their host nations. But I do think that Gaijin needs to set priorities based on gameplay relevant addtions, community wishes and obviously representing all nations present in the tree.

This should ideally not negatively affect the host nation in any noticable way, as the subnation generally has less possible additions anyways, as well as still being the focus of a majority of the tree.

Also there is the type of “subnation” (probably unofficial) like Norway, that I personally think is nice for subnations with specifically few unique or tech tree worthy additions. Like a form of symbiotic relationship a nation gains premiums (possibly event vehicles?), while also reserving more of its own vehicles for the tree.

Though generally I’d have preferred subtrees to be treated more as seperate nations, with seperate tabs, that just have the unique ability to share lineups with another nation. But the way they were implemented still has its potential.
