In theory yes, but in a closer range dogfight, then missile like IRIS-T and MICA IR would would do the 180 turn faster and in a smaller radius. Which might stop whats on your six from firing.
But yes, range is a big part of it. Something like a Typhoon armed with ASRAAM would want to try and keep at a bit of distance, using IRST or radar to launch ASRAAMs at targets. IRIS-T armed Typhoons would probably want to and need to close the gap, almost force the merge (once BVRs have run out of course)
This one is listed as being planned to come in the " Summer of 2024 ", which would likely include the month-break between the ground-vehicle-prize event and the naval-vehicle-prize event they mentioned in the " What We’re Up To " post.
It 's possible that the WWM season which will introduce this new mechanic will be running in that " break " period, rather than overlapping time w/ the vehicle-prize events.
He didn’t say that at all. He said that usually in WT history, before the summer event, you’d get an event not focused on obtaining vehicles, like Atomic Heart.
The quote, people can judge for themselves: “In the summer there’s going to be a month off from these vehicle events and the reason is… they usually run another event which isn’t about a vehicle and is usually about a game mode… so in July you will have this kind of unique event. Now the question is, will this event be another old event that they’ve recycled because sometimes that happens or will it be something brand new?”
His examples of these previous July events are: Atomic Heart (July/23), Mad Max (April/24), Arrakis (April/22) and Tank Football (July/18 was the first of those, true, but for the last three years it’s been in March).
I mean there have been a few other mini-events (like a weekend long) before Atomic Heart in July, but they’re not really something confined to July either. The only other recent comparable “big July thing” would have been WWM s3 in 2020’s lockdown summer. So “usually” seems a stretch there, for sure.
I mean, I’d like to know there something more than just Battlepass in that “month off” they reminded us about on Monday, and what it is, too (I’d be up for another run of Tailspin personally) but to assume it’s going to be something big with unique creative assets like those other things he mentions really seems a little bit of either wishful thinking or misremembering based on the actual past history here.
“The Typhoon’s WVR capabilities is so far above the F-18C, thus should be a higher BR. What? F-18C has 12 missiles vs Typhoon’s 8? Doesn’t matter, it’s slower and thus inferior. Doesn’t matter if it can spam 6 - 10 AIM-9s after spamming 2 - 6 AMRAAMs.”
