It’s a controversial take, but I also agree with you. Subtrees are a bad idea in general and is an attempt to make up for historical deficiencies.
Single tech tree nations should be using their own domestic designs (1), imported designs (2), domestic prototypes (3), or exported designs (4) rather than having subtrees added into the game.

tech tree yes, but we talking premiums here, honestly a light tank at br 10 would be even better for germany but we get a 11.3 premium most likely
I just think that loads of SA additions were a waste of time or replaced a perfectly good British Addition. Things like the ZA-35 vs Marksman. Fine add one or the other, but why both? Same with the Skink and Bosvark. THey were added 1 month a part, at the same BR. WHY?! and we still have nothing for 5.3-8.3 range. If you are gunna add an SA vehicle, add something to an actual gap. The list jsut goes on.
Some are fine additions. Like as much as I think there were and still are other options to the Gripen… fine it fits. And something like a Mirage or Cheatah wouldnt go a miss in the 10-11 BRs. But I think theyve made some poor decisions on what is added and when. Like the SARC spam was just annoying

Good idea in theory but in practice not so much.
If we started with a nation that made sense it would have been better.
Here’s a thinking game that take the order they where added in and use better nations.
UK - Australia/ANZAC (my first choice for their sub-tree) or Canada (just makes sense)
Sweden - Finland (I do honestly think that was the best option) or Norway (if I had to pick someone else I think they fit)
Italy - Spain (minor Axis, full Western nation)
France - Benelux (yes it dumb but it’s is honestly one of the best option) or Switzerland (also dumb but really the only other option.)
Tho neither the UK nor France needed a sub-tree this was just trying to find other options due to the fact Gaijin thinks they need one.

Arguably Japan needed one more than those tech trees, so it’s interesting to see how Gaijin picks which tech trees gets a subtree.

i mean there were suggestion for north africa colonisation stuff which would have made sense
ANZAC would have also been pretty cool since New Zealand doesnt really have much for a military in modern times

According to my very thorough and exhausting research, Wikipedia, they are Sep 3s with export armor. I haven’t done much other research outside of that so I may be wrong.
I don’t see where else the “Republic of China” would go other than “China”. Otherwise, the problem with all trees being so homogenized needs to be addressed on its own.

Japan is in a weird situation for their subtree of most asian nations porbably dont want to be attached to japan, but then again india is now in the UK so idk lol
