From what I seem to figure out is that the Gun delete started with the DARIN-II upgrade. So if what we get in war thunder is not a DARIN-II then its missing a gun.

Ive reqd some stuff about the Jaguar, but found little info about the Shamsher upgrades sadly. Ive seen jon lake have some articles about the DARIN upgrades but cant access them unfortunately

That seems to be the case yes, but additionally it seems that the starboard gun and TGP capability are mutually exclusive.
So if the Jag gets the gun it should have with the current nose and serial number as a DARIN-I, it nominally has to lose its guided bombs. This is the easy solution and since it’s 10.3 with countermeasures and Magic IIs, and may be acceptable even though it’s clear Gaijin really wanted it with TGP+LGB.
If model changes are made to convert it to a more modern Jag in order to maintain the removal of the gun and ability to use LGBs it will necessitate remodelling the nose sensor, moving the front RWR antennas from below the nose to the front of the beam above the rudder, and adding a fairing for a spotlight on the side of the starboard intake.
We’ve not seen what cockpit changes may have been done so far for the Jag IS (if any), but if it is to be accurate for a DARIN-II they may turn out to be significantly more effort than Gaijin are prepared to make.
Else, we’re just going to have to accept it as the Frankenjag that it is right now.

This not not even a remotely close comparison.
At the moment we have a DARIN II Stage 3 aircraft.

This upgrade provided the Targeting pod and Laser Guided bombs but also necessitated the removal of one the guns. There is no exact list of the number of aircraft converted to DARIN II Stage 3 and the current evidence we have shows that the nose change came later than this, most likely sometime between DARIN II Stage 3 and DARIN III.
We know that JS170 is confirmed to at least be Darin 2 stage 2. There are no photos of specific stages and detailed of exactly what airframes had what stage.
We will continue to investigate further for any further evidence on the matter that may further clarify, or if anyone has anything directly confirmatory. But the combination we have is a possible one within what is currently known and based on the material available meeting DARIN II Stage 3.
