Trust me, as someone that had to endure Gen 1s on the Tornado IDS ASSTA1 for a long time, they definitely are atleast 2nd Gen now, not quite third gen tho

It’s already pretty competitive. If I can just figure out how to play the guidance modes better, it won’t be that bad. Would be nice to see the tracking issues get about 10% better, then I’d feel like I have 1 50/50 chance against experienced CAS players.
True as that may be/seem, I use the same argumentation for why the Challenger is a bloated brick, or why most armor packages for Western tanks are chemical protection focused… because that is what the ministries/departments of defense of those respective nations decided during r&d and procurement, especially with the tanks, they were built around defensive, hull down doctrines.

To clear things up, gen 2 is good, it’s just the F-16C that’s bugged so you’re correct it’s only gen 1: Community Bug Reporting System
Pretty sure it’s bugged too on the Barak and AV-8B+, as they were implemented very similarly to the F-16C, but I can’t confirm that myself. Long story cut short. At launch, F-16C, Barak and AV-8B+ had gen 3 FLIR on their Litening due to shoddy implementation, then Gaijin fixed Litening II to be gen 2 across all of them, but in the process bricked the F-16C (and possibly the other aforementioned ones), so they now use gen 1.
