Yeah why Cyprus? That’s still something I’m scratching my head about. Do we really need Israel to have a T-80U?
Could be due to gaijin wanting to bump out as many sub as possible to increase the nation’s count ?
Subtrees, despite all they could be and are presented as by Gaijin, are really just a way for Gaijin to add things they want to add.
Want Britain to get a T-90? Now we add India. Israel struggles? Greece and Cyprus. Japans CAS is bad? Malaysia. And so on.
They look for what they want to add, find ways to justify it later.
This can be a well known national connection, or maybe a popular player suggestion, or even some other unknown reason. If its well received it goes through, if not, it probably still does unless it’s absolutely unavoidable. For example look at Gaijin trying to add Singapore to China not once, but twice before cancelling it.
And after it was cancelled, we can see what happens then. They don’t care for representing Singapore, they just want to use their prepared assets while changing their existing plans as little as possible. So they decided to split the nation.
It’s really just disrespectful, since it just shows that to them Singapore was only a tool to add some vehicles somewhere they wanted them, rather than a nation to represent in their game. This attitude is really the main flaw of subtrees, since it causes pretty much all issues the system has.
(I’m not saying national needs shouldn’t be a factor by the way, but I think there should be a mutual respect for these nations, not just one-sided for the host.)

Singapore exists! It’s been something a few of us has been asking for a while given the literal close ties with Israel! Cyprus makes almost no sense and have near zero relations with Israel. The only reason I can see why Cyprus is even considered is because of relations with Greece and Turkey, which means Gaijin might even have plans to add Turkey to Israel at some point.

They have had military relations recently (eg being the first potential customer for Merkavas currently, and being part of a Military Pact w/ Greece too), but its so recent (5 years, 10 at best) and within that timespan, there’s been a lot of controversies regarding Cyprus and Israel.
Which imo would be weak reasoning, because it has close relations with a subtree rather than the main tree.

im not disagreeing with the Hunter going to Israel, but you cant just use the Bionix as an example of an indigenous AFV when the armored, fighting and vehicle parts are all not indigenous
It is still home based design, custom made parts for our needs and use. It is very much indigenous despite manufactured/parts from the US. We didn’t just buy a Bradley and modify it to our needs nor did we get all off the shelf parts outside of the power pack and gun at best.

Ye ye the point being that this whole convo began because Gaijin wants to split SG apart, and I’m pretty much against that idea regardless.
As long as this elephant in the room gets addressed, I’ll be cool. My bottom line is everything in one tree as a subtree. If that doesn’t get fulfilled then I give no care about this game and will drop it.

which makes sense considering how varied their stuff is.
It’s not really that much more varied than Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia (if anything Indonesia is a bigger crime here with the amount of things they are buying from literally EVERYONE recently.)
Just a reminder what we do have here:
- Mostly American jets (except Hawker Hunter)
- German MBT
- Funny French bouncy turret boy
- Two indigenous IFVs
- One indigenous ICV
- An Israeli and French/Italian SAM system
- A Russian MANPADS funny boy

What makes this worse, is that Gaijin has ended up making operator nation a big part of War Thunder and have only help this idea by focusing on sub-trees.
And this can be seen everywhere else, with the War Thunder Forums broken down by nation for suggestions and more.
Plus on places like Reddit and Steam, when looking for a specific nation, you see people asking for it either by itself or with a group of “related nations”.

Yeah well unfortunately that’s a reality now, so Japan can get Rafales, F-16s, Su-27, Su-30 and the rumoured purchases of J-10C (Chinese mains will not allow this lol) and Su-35 alongside confirmed orders of KF-21.
Oh but Singapore to Israel is too varied for Gaijin apparently…

not only that but other nations have significantly more claim to some Singaporean vehicles than Israel, through making and in at least one case operating them
