Its about adding LOAL for FnF weapons. I dont see the difference between giving the ability to fire a Spice-250 at a target point, and then picking a target after its been fired and doing the same with a Brimstone. Except for the Brimstone it would be weaker because it would need to be closer to the target and you would have to mark the target with a laser spot and not just switch to the camera view 40km away and pick a target.

Let alone the fact that Brimstones 1s, all we’ve got at the moment, have far far shorter kinematic range than any other FnF weapon at top tier currently

Nah, just the devs selectively buffing certain nations again

No it isn’t you will still need a lock to fire, you can just change targets now

I’m sorry but how? This mechanic shows a TV/IR seeker retargeting, that’s pretty different from SAL to mmW hand over. And nothing like the automated mmW mode.

If your argument is that these modes should come due to the perceived power of these TV/IR weapons having MITL guidance than sure you can make that argument, but this guidance method has little to do with Brimstone.

all this MITL stuff and im still out here coping for a PL-12 fix so it doesn’t get outrolled under 8km

By a MiG-19 too at that

i’ve seen props outroll the PL-12

Please read the blog again.

You are simplifying and seeing only what you want to see. It isn’t about all FnF weapons. Its specifically about IR and TV guided weapons with a MITL method. Of which Brimstone is neither.

How I see this mechanic:

  1. Fire at a target point via the map
  2. swtich to the DL view for the last fired weapon
  3. pick a target for it to lock onto

what I would propose for Brimstones

  1. Fire at a target point via the map
  2. Mark a target with a laser spot
  3. last fired Brimstone locks onto that target when it gets within 9km

I dont really see all that big of a difference in functionality and would go a long way to making a totally worthless weapon actually semi-usable.

I don’t think they have mentioned LOAL, it might be that you can only change targets if the missile was launched in target mode and not point mode. We don’t know yet.

Which adds what to them?

If you read the blog, it explains what it adds?

The Ho229 roll rate would be a worthy rival

It adds LOAL for certain FnF weapons.

also F-16V perhaps? that’s what im thinking. although there’s two types of upgraded F-16s Taiwan uses

Read the blog watch the video. You connect to the video feed of the weapon on course to a predesignated target, at which point you move the weapons seeker to a new target in the FoR.

This is nothing like any Brimstone guidance.
