Not too familiar with what that is, I haven’t been able to play Arma 3 or anything previous in about 8 years now.
Before we are told to get back on track, I’m going to loop this conversation back to War Thunder. Arma Reforger is based on the time period of the Cold War. Arma Reforger has the LAV-25. With War Thunder seeing some modern additions to ground, such as the M10 Booker, BMPT, and Jaguar, why have we yet to see the LAV-25, which is from the 80’s?
Well, the original point was that Afghanistan (a 128x128km air sim map) had a rather low poly count and low res textures
I then pointed out that Gaijins goal to let people run the game on extremely low end hardware meant that huge maps needed to look like that to achieve that goal
You then brought up Arma Reforger, probably as a comparison, claiming that the maps are “HUGE” and that it still runs well
the nam map in arma 3 is a modded map that is heavy on assets that it lags if its the only mod running they ported a version to refoger and reforger runs it better
I suppose it could be more of an idea collaboration? Reforger lacks in vehicle quantity. No large caliber weapons, with the 25mm of the LAV-25 being the largest weapon (besides RPG’s and Mortars), and the best weapon for air is rocket pod Huey’s and Mi-8’s. Also, in my experience, modders are unable to properly model functional tracks on modded tanks (such as T-72’s, M1 Abrams, Bradley’s, and BMP’s).
Although I didn’t watch too much infantry gameplay for war thunder, maybe Reforger could help with medical or combat aspects? The infantry game mode seemed to function a lot like a modern enlisted, so to set it apart they could use more of what Reforger is about? Reforger already has lots of assets and mechanics based around infantry as well, that could be beneficial.
