Yeah, that’s why it relies either on a 6 missile launcher with the radar or a fire director.

it needs the damn buk with 6 missiles to fire the 12? why wouldnt it just use the search radar with tws or sm. you dont need much else with arh missiles, unless im missing something

It is not ARH, it has SARH missiles, so it needs a illumination radar. ARH was a idea, that went nowhere. Also search radar does not have a DL to missile capability.
Because it wasn’t made for that, the SARH missiles need to be guided by that Illumination Radar, and i’m assuming DL would be provided trough the same system if it used ARH missiles, but as Devil06 said it’s unclear that they exist.
there’s no way they add the pinnacle of chinese multirole flankers before releasing the earlier ones, time to cope with chinese su30mk!!!

It is not unclear, it was not done. They had a idea, but they moved on from it to do other stuff.

Wait it actually makes so much sense, why would you keep the fire directors on both separate vehicles and the launch vehicle if you had ARH that could be guided by DL.

Man, in doubt the MKK would even be 14.3 its worse than the SU-30SM in pretty much every way.
They could just add an early batch J-16 and leave the later batches for with WS-10B series 3 for later
Not that there’s any known performance differences apart from the look of it
And even if they add the later ones without newer missiles like the PL-15
It wouldn’t be anything particularly special in WT atm
It gets less and worse missiles than the SU-30SM
it gets worse BVR missiles compared to the EF and F-15E
It’s TWR is comparable to the F-15E and EF to make up for worse BVR missiles
It gets no meta WVR missiles unlike the Rafale and SU-30SM
it would be good one of the best BVR platforms but nothing gamebreaking
