Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

What about the SEPv4

Cancelled before it became a prototype so it’s as fictional as the Tiger 2 105.

I’m coping and praying that it does. (It won’t 🥀)

I was told that was a SEP below 4 that they were intending to be the tank for the first prototypes, but they didn’t get around to it.
They could’ve been wrong, but there’s also no evidence of SEP4 upgrades on that tank so either’s possible.

True i forgot about that one. I guess the Abrams X also exists though I don’t know if that went farther than a mockup yet.

I mean there are visual differences between the SEPv4 and SEPv3 that indicate they were testing some technologies on the prototype.

CATTB, that’s all we need.

Probably wont see that until we see stuff like the leopard 140 and object 195. What the US needs right now for MBTs is something decent with a 120mm.

Problem is outside of adding more turret armor and possibly better ammo all the other 120 abrams variants they can add outside of the X will have the same issues the current abrams does.

64 smoke grenades, unstabilized 140mm gun, most armor put on an Abrams at the time.
Absolutely wild.

What exactly makes most of these vehicles “trial” vehicles? Most of the “T series” tanks were built to counter some type of armor, but were either not needed (due to the end of WW2 for the T30, T34, T29) or due to change in doctrine (such as the T58). The story of the T58 isn’t any different than the T10M, a switch over to MBT’s led to the demise of these vehicles.

CATTB was stabilized, M1 Thumper was not. Don’t forget the autoloader as well.

T34 had only 2 prototypes and was only trialled, same goes for the T92 and T95.
T32 had only 4 prototypes and was only trialled, same goes for the XM800T.
T1E1 had 20 units built, but was only trialled.
M6A1 had 12 units built, but was only trialled.
Not sure how many T95E1s existed, but they were just prototypes.
Can’t find anything about the number of XM975s on M109 chassis were built, but they also only were trials. Most of the Roland launchers were mounted on trucks instead.

There were only two T58 turrets and as far as I know, only one was mounted on a hull.

Sure, but I don’t understand why they can’t be TT?

They made a good amount of XM8 but of course that one they make an event

They could be, if the other nations got a similar treatment.
However most other nations don’t get to have a bunch of prototypes in their TT unless they are absolutely necessary.

soviet objects

I said most.

What about the CR3 TD

That shouldn’t be in the TT either (and was pointless to add in the first place lol)
With modern MBTs we ran out of other production vehicles though, that is a different case which I concede will have to be filled with prototypes and trial vehicles going forward
