F-15 advanced eagle is losing to a gripen E 9/10, regardless of model
Beats it in radar and EW probably due to just size and tech (F-15 is a big jet), but yeah considering meteor vs 120D. I think would swing back in EX favor if it got AIM-260 which have already been tested on most of not all aircraft that will use it
Not really it would probably have only sidewinder or pitbull amraams, no radar
All it has is stealth and M1.72 supercruise
AIM-260 is still too early in development to say it’s definitively better than a Meteor, however the Gripen E is a light fighter with more than enough missiles to continually pressure an Eagle into defending while simply notching with the 300 odd chaff and amazing DASS suite, it’s radar is better due to having some of the best sensor fusion on earth and playing perfectly into it’s other sensors and AI assistant, finally in a dogfight the only F-15 that stands a chance against a gripen is the A
Gaijin would probably give it the Yak-141 treatment and give it stuff it never had which they believe it maybe would have gotten had it entered service.
Fair enough on the Meteor vs 260
But F-15EX has 360 standard CM, and can put Britecloud 218 on each of those. Then there is the BOL pods which US F-15C has, and since EX replacing C I think it’ll get those. As F-15EX has 8 amraam rails on wings that’s 8 BOL pods, each has 160 CM, you can see where I’m going with this. All of this integrated with BAE System’s Inc. excellent EPAWSS ECM suite (ty LM Sanders!)
F-15EX and F-15E also got ADCP II computer and EX has full glass cockpit, and is a fully digital aircraft. I’m sure it has just as much sensor fusion if not more, combined with the chunky F-15 radar it’ll outrange the Gripen E detection. AI assistant is something that might come in future software update but as of right now doesn’t have it.
I cannot argue with dogfight ability since that’s pretty much just a fact.
Id rather they just keep it as realish as possible to keep it at a F-117 type BR, maybe 13.0
Man what i would give to see the RAH-66 Comanche in game
Would be amazing
Seeing the Suggestions for January has the 3105 on it:
They cheat, because was allready planned half an year ago to come xDDDD
Sorry mate, i’d simply feel safer sitting in the cockpit on a lone JAS-39E than an F-15EX, it’s got better EW and sensor fusion simply down to the fact that it plays an active role in suppressing enemy aircraft and their missiles well outside of AMRAAM pitbull range, combined with the incredible radar ,which lacks raw power makes up for it in functionality in features like NCTR and advanced modes that prevent jamming and interference, plus you have the ability to hold the Eagle at an arm’s length with Meteors (7 of them with 9 BOL) being technologically superior to the 12 AMRAAMs.
Besides are there any images of F-15EX with BOL since i always hear US mains blabbering on about it but never seen any evidence further than ‘it’s compatible’
Everything you just said the F-15EX does, hell, the F-15E does it all too
Except for meteors
No pictures of EX with BOL since it just entered service. And “it’s compatible” is enough evidence considering the USAF does have BOL pods available to them.
Do you think the Gripen E beats the F-35 in ECM though?
depends on the block of F-35, an early one vs modern gripen sure, but a modern F-35 or F-35I is better than anything else
well i cba to continue this cock measuring contest but personally i’d take a JAS-39E, i prefer light fighters anyways
Then we agree because the EPAWSS is more modern than the Barracuda on F-35’s
That’s fair, but Id like to be able to take 5 cruise missile and 8 amraams over turning better
Maybe it’s my nationality but I think it’s more practical to conduct Highway operations, operate in nordic enviroments, have a ‘short and sweet’ as opposed to ‘bigger = better’ approach to technlogical superiority.
In all scenarios over in Finland, a Gripen E is a better aircraft than the F-15 (of any model) simply because it’s tailor made for the Flygvapnet’s requirements, which closely mirror those of our Ilmavoimat
One of the reasons we bought the J35’s in Denmark, additionally we used the F16’s since they are cheap to mantain over other US options, also the amount of other companies with multitudes of upgrades for the F16.
True, for a more regional war the Gripen E is very well suited, but long range, high payload multirole for either very long range strikes or mopping up enemy forces after SEAD and air superiority is acheived, is where the eagle shines
It’s like the AR-15 of fighter jets
