Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

R-60 non all aspecr

With how strong the F-15E/I was on release, and how good is still arguably is, I would argue that it has been meta defining enough.

The problem with the hornet is that the F/A-18C is arguably already at best a sidegrade to the F-15C, let alone the F-15E.

Fun fact another looked over project was a super sonic gnat…

Well, in that case your Finnish Hawk could be 9.0-9.3 (not completely safe from all-aspect spam, but still)

I’d prefer the swing wing Gnat (Fo.148)

Here it is with a R-60

There is always the possibility that they give the Finnish Hawk CMs on an airframe basis, like with the F-5.

Though you’re a massive pessimist so I doubt you believe that

9.0 with R60 eh… even with 9M it will be too difficult to balance.

Would be pretty neat if gaijin instead of just adding F18 hornets and near modern jets, maybe go for the whackier cold war designs like, i dunno The flying pancake, The Grognard or this ungodly abombination

thats a weird plane lol

Eh, they have fairly different bodies though don’t they? Thought Hawk 200’s were bigger. Also again going off their decisions with Finnish Armament it would make more sense to just withold missiles to keep it low in BR. Seems way easier to balance i mean look at the alpha jet TH

I mean sure. Its a poster child of an airframe. But there’s also a sizable portion of players who aren’t hyped for an airplane that would most likely struggle in a non-meta configuration. A Desert Storm F-18 is nothing much but Aim-7s and Aim-9s (no idea if it gets 9Ms).

If the Rafale and Typhoon are the meta defining aircraft, than you have five nations behind instead of four. Sure the JAS 39E should have already been here and it looks like Italy has an EFT. Japan is…the F-2? Do you give the Swedish tree a Finnish F/A-18? Does it need to be better than what the US should get?

Looking at what is left for the remaining nations, is not much without diving into a sub tree and even then, most of that sub tree is…well F/A-18s and F-35s.

I cant imagine you are of the opinion that the US can get an F/A-18, just it cant be meta breaking, but it is okay for other nations to get a better F/A-18 than the US because they need it.

I guess an example of this is a scenario where US gets a Legacy Hornet this update but say Sweden gets a Finnish Super Hornet. I can’t imagine that going well in any regards. And then to say, “Hey US players, wait until June or Sept, then you guys can get your Super Hornet”.

Imagine a whole update focussed on failed designs (Swing-wing Mirage, VTOL Mirage (and/or Balzac), Germanys failed VTOLs, Yak-36, etc)

I predict that the early 5th gen infrared Air-to-Air Missile might be AIM-9X (Blk 1) and R-74M because lack both datalink and LOAL capable

Late 5th gen infrared Air-to-Air Missile with datalink can multi-lock enemies aircraft in all-aspect 7km

I want R-60K (R-60 export variant) on soviet aircraft from germany, sweden (finnish) and italy (HuAF) tech tree

my reaction to that :(IOI)

You do know Finland only uses legacy hornets right? And the US can get a late C model with the same things and even more equipment than the Finnish version right?

Yeah, a variant with a lower BR but without missile would be best. They did that with the French and German Alpha Jets as well.

MGBT would be nice to see added with R60K but kinda pointless when it could mount Aim-9’s lol
