Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

It actually makes a lot of sense. The 2S38 shouldn’t be facing max BR.

And so can a Leopard 1A5 against a Strv 122, but that doesn’t mean it’s fine that they would face each other.

I destroyed a Sherman in a Matilda, I’m sure a Valentine would far better.

Heck, iirc the 105 Sherman and last UK Valentine share the same BR.

You’re the one trying to prove the 2S38 should move.

Yes, because it makes no sense that 1960s MBTs are forced to face a 2020s Light Tank that is faster, more agile, has better gun handling, better thermals, better optics and even survivability and has an autocanon that shoots shells each of which can obliterate them no matter where they hit.

Such an advanced Light Tank should be a support vehicle and sidegrade to more modern MBTs; not a destroyer of 1960s tanks.

It’s so much worse than the HSTV-L that just 2 BRs isn’t enough space between them. And I don’t think HSTV-L should be 12.3

10.7 then?

I mean 10.7 wouldn’t be the end of the world but I just don’t see it as necessary to be honest.

I kill the things constantly and only die to them if I get greedy, which is 100% on me.

So the VIDAR should be 12.0, and Maus should be 6.3?

In a downtier aren’t they pretty oppressive though? If 10.7 wouldn’t hurt it that much or at all, then it should go there for the sake of 9.3

Unfortunately you’re the odd one out. The majority thinks the 2S38 should move up.

Ad populum is a logical fallacy

Because it’s slow, has poor survivability, is large, and has 5 degrees of gun depression. Meaning it can’t hull down effectively (and even if you do, you can have the ammo in the breech shot). So really it’s only good at flanking on flat ground which is something any MBT can do (and better due to better mobility, armor and better one hit capability).

You were complaining about a 1960’s tank facing a 2020’s tank.

It’s not about the dates, it’s about the technical capabilities which I detailed a few posts above.

2S38 is a Light Tank that’s superior in capabilities to any 2nd Generation MBT simply because it was developed under a significantly more advanced technology that allowed it to surpass older vehicles on their own role despite being another class of vehicle.

Sluggish old 2nd gen MBTs that are protected by 30-70mm thick steel plates have no business facing a 3rd gen thermal-equipped go-kart armed with a 225mm pen APFSDS autocanon.

Light Tanks and Main Battle/Heavy/ier tanks must be sidegrades that complement each other, with their own sets of strengths and weaknesses. 2S38 is a Light Tank that is outright better than the Medium and Main Battle Tanks it faces in every way.
