Why tho? Sure it has STOVL, but it isn’t a dedicated strike/ground-attack plane
The F-35B is a replacement for the AV-8B while the 35C is a replacement for the 18.

the alternative is having some F-35s come after others or be foldered under others, it is also a USMC aircraft, and like you said it’s a STOVL which makes it a fitting follow on to the AV-8s
Possibly, I am hoping for a USMC F/A-18D in that line though and it would also make sense foldered there, it by itself is not a fighter so it does make more sense to put it in the 4th line of the US tree

Yeah, the different F/A-18 variants will probably end up in multiple columns, just like the F-4 and other multirole aircraft did before.

Personally, hoping we get at least one earlier F/A-18 from the Gulf War era, with AIM-7Fs and either AIM-9L or M, and then at least one two seater F/A-18, kind of like how they added the F-16D to Isreal despite it being generally just worse than the C, I was still happy when it was added just because I find tandem cockpits cool :)

I think it’d be better to spread the F-35s in the 3 lines, to avoid big gaps and make sure no line ends too short

twin seaters are overall better for ground attack because they allow task splitting and reduce the workload, so since the 18 is a fighter AND attack aircraft it would make sense to put the single seaters under the f-14 line and a twin seater under the AV-8B+ line. Not sure if that’s the best to do though

That is true IRL but obviously there is no difference in game except that two seaters weigh more and carry less gun ammo, so there is no guarantee we get a twin seater

Maybe I still think the F-15E would have made more sense under the attacker line vs the bomber line but they may have put it there with the idea of adding the 18 after the B+
So maybe F/A-18 this march or some time this year?

Hmm that logic makes sense, maybe… I heard the 18 is to come this year, though I don’t remember from who so I can’t tell if it’s a reliable information
