Since typhoon is an air superiority fighter, and block 5 is from 2008, where is it’s real American counterpart in that role, the F-22 with 120D (120D tested 2008, production started 2006) and AN/APG-77v1 (certified on F-22 in 2007)

Typhoon is the equal to the F-15E. If anything F-18 should have come last update and F-15E this update with the Typhoon

from what i have seen and heard, the f-18 is not as good as either an f-15 when it comes to a2a, but excels better when doing a2g stuff.
Only thing going for f18 is missiles which aren’t in game, and can probably be carried by F-15E since it’s all standardized
Outclassed in speed, payload, radar, and coolness

Uh… No idea about A2G, but the F-18C trades top speed for better AoA and 10x AMRAAM loadout.
But not every addition has to be an upgrade over the current top aircraft. Look at the F3 Late and FA2, fairly major downgrades over the Gripen in most respects
