Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Has a compact F-16A radar

WAIT ITS BEEN PASSED!!! OH MY GOD WE MAY GET A HAWK… in 20 years

not sure why the non asraam varient is so high, its a subsonic

Britain just seems like a proper home for Canadian SPAA I guess lol

The Skink (US getting the Skink is blatant lazy C&P), CANADATS, so the LAV AA makes sense.

so its basically a subsonic f16a but with cooler missiels

fun fact, britian made a adats varient.

Ironically, not really. I could talk far more about the Harrier, Tornado or Jaguar than the Hawk. Its an aircraft I dont know much about, which is why I linked to the suggestions instead of going by my knowledge, what I know is from reading them or speaking with their creators

No proximity fuzes for Jean Bart’s AA. France never used it.

Sure but before that it was 7.3 for a while ^^

I’d play the hell out of the MKI with indigenous Indian and British missiles (ASTRA and ASRAAM etc) as well as the other Indian upgrades. At that point its just as unique (if not more) than one of China’s flankers for example.

What CN flankers lack in uniqueness, they will make up for it in performance though. Provided Gaijin doesn’t model something like J-16 incorrectly, it will be one of the best fighters for BVR.

The J-16 may very well be the best Flanker, in fact, and even if it isn’t, China will still get the Su-35S.

Su-35S will be more maneuverable than the J-16, although that wouldn’t mean too much for the air RB environment. A pilot flying J-16 said that his dream Flanker would be combining avionics, radar of the J-16 and TVC AL-41F1S engines of the Su-35S.

The PL-10 and PL-21 alone should make it better.

PL-10 is AIM-9X class IR missile with HOBS capability, I think the other missile is instead called PL-17 instead of PL-21 iirc, it is in the same range class as Russian R-37, but PL-17 combines both IR and radar guidance which would make it pretty effective. Although PL-17 is mainly for high value targets like AWACS.

I think Gaijin will more likely be adding PL-15, which is at least equivalent to AIM-120D.

It’s a fair bit better, from what I’ve read, more being on par with the IRIS-T and Python-5.

lets be real it isnt super hard being better then the 9X im pretty sure most modern IR missiles are better maybe besides the R74M2

Is the R-74M2 even operational yet?

considering its for the Su57 probably not lol
