This is highlighting that the current use of tech trees are outdated and need to be reevaluated. South Africa was a good idea that sadly turned into basically recycling assets to “fill” gaps.

Yeah F-16 in the air tree is just going to exacerbate the current F-16 vs F-16 matchmaker. Ground top tier is already a Leo 2 vs Leo 2 fest.
Excatly, the Tiger HAD block 2 is pretty good and the mk3 would be even better. Only thing they miss is a rework of the Mistral, but we all know it’s not going to happen

friendly reminder mk3 doesnt exist and was canceled as far as i am aware
At least the F-16 can bring some additional cas options with mavericks.
France already has helis with both hellfires and spikes also with better self defense weapons than the AH-64.
Not cancelled, but, reworked. It’s still going to come with AKERON those guided SNEBs things, but it’s true than most of the rest might not come

Somewhere along the feedback path, Gaijin has sorely misunderstood that there’s a certain priority placed on uniqueness.

It’s all about money. Germany leaving made the project so much more expensive for just France and Spain
It sounds like the development budget was conducted as if Germany would eventually sign onto it. You guys didn’t and decided to slowly phase out the Tiger instead.
So the scope of the project had to be scaled back while still trying to keep the biggest requirements.
find that bit amusing when i remember how many french guys prided themself in going trouhg a lot projects alone seeing rafaele leclercs etc without help from anybody
My biggest issue is that I have to regrind a vehicle I have already used in another tech tree, which absolutely hurts my motivation to play them. I do not mind if those vehicles are there, the countries they’re attached to used them after all and they certainly do fill some gaps, but being required to grind through them again is detrimental from playing a tech tree one would expect to be more unique. I’d be more motivated to play a country’s unique vehicle if that padded grind was removed.

We do proud ourself in being able to go through projects by our own. But the EUROtiger always has been a European cooperative. While having an attack helicopter is important, fighter jets are much more important. France leaving the Eurofighter project meant they HAD to develop their own. And they profited as much from the eurofighter project in making the rafale that the eurofighter profited from the earlier French involvement (hence the striking similarities). Meanwhile, the Eurocopter already exists, is still pretty relevant to this day, and as budgets were made considering it was supposed to be European, Germany leaving make the upgrade program to expensive for what it is for both France and Spain.

I’d rather something with ATGMs imo, the CTA40 is only 200RPM max so some extra boom when required is useful. They can’t bodge a milan on to the CSP like the warrior (The turret mounted milan was a field mod to ~10 warriors during the First Gulf War, and ditched afterwards, so we can’t really bring it forwards)

CTA40 does have a pretty huge penetration power tho. As the vehicle would not feature ATMG, I don’t think it would be anywhere higher than 10.0 and at this BR it would be quite a beast against most MBTs from even a shallow angle (and could go through many MBTs from the front as well)
So no chance for Dev blog tomorrow?
