I see, but the Jag still has flares, guns, missiles and is supersonic
Edit:
Let’s not account for the flares since the F-117 has the IR reduction, tho I don’t know how it reduced the lock on range of say an R-60, the Jaguar still has 3 advantages over it
Its barely supersonic. To be honest Id consider it more of a transonic airframe. With no loadout at all. It takes an age to reach supersonic. Within the context on GRB its a minimal impact to be honest.
I also think the radar staelth, which is more designed for dealing with ground radars iirc also shouldnt be taken likely. Where the Gr1A can leverage a probably better climb rate and can find safety at alt. The F-117 would probably also avoid initial attention from ground radars. Meaning its gunna be a lot harder to see coming. Especially if it spawns on the runway and side climbs a bit first. Comes in from an un-expected angle.
It does have 2x Aim-9Gs. Which are fine, but so does the Jaguar Gr1 and Harrier Gr3 at 9.7. Same with the guns. The 2x 30mm ADENs are pretty terrible in A2A and are okay in ground stafe, but i never employ them. The overall handling of the Jaguar is pretty poor anyway, you probably arent winning any gunfights vs most other attackers.
Im still somewhat doubting the F-117 would be much lower than maybe 10.0. I dont think there are ANY guided weapons from aircraft below 10.0. I could be wrong though without checking every single aircraft. Considering that hte F-117 should be hard to lock onto by any SAM. A smart player wont relaly need to worry about ground fire. In a full downtier. it would be pretty OP at 9.7
(edit, just seen the Q-5L, forgot about that one, though its OP as hell and does need to move up in ground, just forced down due to air performance. So hopefully will move up in ground next update)
True, but I’d say the F-117 suffers from the same effect, as it has much lower TWR
this is very much true, and I have nothing to say to this besides the fact that the nighthawk would climb much much slower than the Jaguar bringing it’s “bang for the buck” down
This still puts the Jaguar a notch above the nighthawk as it has no A-A armaments, just two bombs
there are some, like you said the Q-5L and the A4 early come to mind, besides them I don’t think any have guided bombs but some do have guided A-G missiles
At those BRs guided CAS outranges any guns anyway, making the F-117 susceptible to IR SAMs which are present at 9.7 or below, but again I’m not sure how effective the IR signature reduction is
either way the most reliable way of countering would be getting into a plane yourself, however on the contrary, in a full uptier, at 11.3 you encounter SAMs that will make it very hard to survive as it can’t maneouver to kinetically dodge SAMs, and if you for some reason decide to bring it up to 11.0 you most definitely will get absolutely destroyed
on another note let’s look at some other attackers at the BR of 10.3
there’s the A-10 late which is slower but has good A-A armament and arguably similar guided A-G weapons
the aforementioned A-7D
the su-17M2 is faster, has decent A-A and kinda bad A-G
the su-25, which like the A-10 is slightly lower, is slightly slower has good enough A-A and decent A-G
you already covered the jag so ill skip it
the Bucc S.2B has one more bomb, missiles which it cant carry while it has 3 bombs, and is probably about the same speed as the nighthawk
the Q-5L is I assume similar in FM to the A-5C making it much better than the F-117 would be and has the same A-G while having guns
the AMX has straight up 4 good bombs and 2x9Ls, while I can’t speak on it’s FM it never seemed bad
the french Jag has bigger bombs and better missiles than the british jag
AJ37 has no guided bombs and 2 mavericks but has much much better fm than most of the aforementioned attackers, too bad it has no internal guns
TL;DR I think the attackers at 10.3 all have advantages over the nighthawk, making it reasonable at 9.7 in GRB
