Why? Boosters work in SB, I believe this should as well.
I have it all unlocked :D
Attack ~ the D ! point !!!
Boosters dont work for the entire match, they work for 30 mins of that match. The original announcement for that was “first 3 matches of the day”. I did ask about what that means for sim but got ignored.
My concern is that either means
- the first 30 mins of a sim match
- Wont work at all in sim
Nothing is actually falling behind on the major update. We have never announced ahead of time that you can expect Dev blogs on a certain date and we don’t do so for a number of reasons that some have already alluded too above.
It’s not a “radio silence” that’s for sure. We have said they will come soon. Sadly we can’t say more than that for now. But nothing is different from this major than with any others in that regard. The updates do not come on the exact same dates every year. They are within the same periods, but they always move around.
My 1200 chaff i hope
The Dream
I’m sure you are familiar with this sheet.
Generally this is accurate to within a week or two, because devblog schedules (at least from the outside) generally appear like clockworks.
Would it be wrong to say that, given past trends, the current devblogs appear delayed?
It’s not radio silence, of course. You are saying things and so are other community managers. But you know full well you don’t generally say anything substantive.
Because that’s the policy, it’s a policy I’m directly criticising as bad and unhelpful.
Gaijin policy is to never ever say anything that could be interpreted as specific: “Soon”
But I think it’s fairly normal for game developers to, say, make a post something like “At the moment we plan to do X update at Y date, although our plans are subject to change and are not guarunteed.”
Perhaps that kind of response would get me fired day 1 on the job as a CM.
But I think that’s perfectly fair and a reasonable level of disclosure and communication.
I would say this is a good example and I don’t see why those kinds of statements aren’t made about a wider variety of topics.
It’s circumspect and clearly emphasises the not-guarunteed nature of things.
I understand your job is very difficult and I don’t envy you or any of the other CM’s for the grim task of having to deal with the community at large.
So I’m being clear to critique the policy you are instructed to implement, not you yourselves.
We need these Emojis as a standart in the Foum :(
I have but one question: When Kranvagn?
They could even do 2 variants:
The variant with the 105mm shooting APDS
The Variant with the 150mm shooting 110mm HEATFS-DS
(Please Gaijin please)
In my nearly 9 years here now, I’m very familiar with this sheet and a bunch of others. They can be useful tools for some, but are often used incorrectly almost every major update to begin the narrative that “the update is delayed” or “it’s been pushed back” whenever it doesn’t conform to the trend of these sheets.
In reality, we don’t work to those and the updates have and always will move backwards and forwards.
So yes, it would be incorrect to say the Dev blogs are delayed. Because they are not. They are scheduled and planned for exactly when they were intended.
If there is nothing to say, then we cannot say it unfortunately.
I appreciate it may cause you personal frustration, but direct evidence from the past has proven that giving spesific dates and then something changing last minute has proven far more problematic than simply allowing for the appropriate time and placement to happen.
Everything is subject to change, and unfortunately the wrong expectations can be set up all to easily.
That can’t be worse than last year, when we had to wait for two weeks to read the second devblog.
That thing isn’t a fortune teller, it can’t predict the future.
Sure, hence why I emphasise that they merely appear since they are a guess at something we outsiders don’t have access to the internal mechanisms of.
So you know things that could be said, but it’s policy not to say them. Is that a fair summary? If so, I would say that’s contradictive.
I would say that’s a symptom of insufficient communication.
People would be less desperate for information and extrapolate less, if there is more to say.
If there’s a consistent pattern of open, transparent communication, you would (I predict) fear less of this misinterpretation. You can’t ever stop wilful misinterpretation, but that’s a kind of cowing to the loudest voices. I’m sure there are plenty of people who can understand statements that are couched in uncertainty.
Deciding to say less for fear you will be misunderstood, is a retreat and surrenders “control of the narrative” as it were, to other parties and forces. Hence the existence of the spreadsheet in the first place.
In some sense this thread is partially a testament to that fact.
But that’s my personal interpretation.
So this week gaijin not ready announced next event vehicle of new event cycle and first dev blog season ?
Why I wasn’t excited first devblog season of second major update this year and next event vehicle from new event cycle if gaijin announced next week (monday or tuesday)
Man has never worked in software development
It would be very funny if War Thunder was open source, people would be sitting on commit history and PRs 24/7 and opening issues asking when will this or that be merged.
Definitely.
I’d say that’s pretty clearly too far, but I’m arguing the current policies are too far the other way.
My biggest wish is for the mission editor to be updated and easy to use.
I mean like a what if War thunder but with the style of War On The Seas campaign model.
What we know and what can actually be said are two different things. You are assuming every detail can be said, but unfortunately this is not the case. When we have something solid and reliable to say, will do so. Anything before that can potentially cause more issues than it solves.
Unfortunately there have and will always be periods where we can’t say things. It’s simply impossible to have a constant flow of news and information all the time to satisfy the needs of some. We always aim to be as open, transparent and provide as much as we possibly can.
You really won’t have too long to wait to find out more information. We are not ages away, it’s far closer than that. But it’s not today that’s for sure.
