Sure. But if we’re comparing Soviet tank to Soviet tank, that’s the tradeoff.
Many other tanks have a huge slew of advantages that easily compensate for not having notionally the best armour.

There was a reason why the BVM was one of the very best MBTs before air superiority (only surpassed by the Strv 122s). A BVM with worse protection is still fine at 11.7. Just like the 2A5 and M1A2 are fine at 11.7, the same br as the SEPv1 and 2A7V (for now hopefully).

The most underrated one, for sure.
You can’t found a lot of other country that built it’s own ground army, MBT, AA system, Nuclear powered subs and only catobar carrier outside USA, while having the second NATO nuclear arsenal, domesticly made.

Also I’m not convinced the BVM was ever that good. We only had ThunderSkill which is unusable data.
The only data we have is the K2 Krabishe data which showed outright that Soviets just weren’t as strong as was a priori insisted by the “Russian Bias” crowd.

just for clarity, you mean second biggest NATO Nuclear arsenal? because if that is the case, yes you do. You just chronologically dont.

I mean its usable but you have to then consider that the data is skewed.
It would be the most useless sub in game if subs are introduced
203mm are overall pretty lackluster in terms of damage and only having 2 guns probably means it will get outgunned by 5.0 destroyers
And if battle damage prevents you from diving, well…You’re an big unarmored floating piece of junk with only 2x203 to return fire with

Still better than the usual 37mm on other subs.
Don’t forget 4 front torp tubs, and 2x3 in the rear that can shoot on the side.
Also can launch a plane for spot.

It’s certainly an often dismissed and underrated force. There are a lot of malicious Francophobic talking points and ideas floating around, none of which have any place in informed discussion.
I think it’s clear though that France is not a Superpower and isn’t likely to be anytime soon.
