Sure. But if we’re comparing Soviet tank to Soviet tank, that’s the tradeoff.
Many other tanks have a huge slew of advantages that easily compensate for not having notionally the best armour.

There was a reason why the BVM was one of the very best MBTs before air superiority (only surpassed by the Strv 122s). A BVM with worse protection is still fine at 11.7. Just like the 2A5 and M1A2 are fine at 11.7, the same br as the SEPv1 and 2A7V (for now hopefully).

You can’t found a lot of other country that built it’s own ground army, MBT, AA system, Nuclear powered subs and only catobar carrier outside USA, while having the second NATO nuclear arsenal, domesticly made.

Also I’m not convinced the BVM was ever that good. We only had ThunderSkill which is unusable data.
The only data we have is the K2 Krabishe data which showed outright that Soviets just weren’t as strong as was a priori insisted by the “Russian Bias” crowd.

Either way, France is definitely under represented in game.

203mm are overall pretty lackluster in terms of damage and only having 2 guns probably means it will get outgunned by 5.0 destroyers
