That sounds pretty interesting to see a Danish sub-tech for Sweden.
Very true… BR Compression is also a huge problem. Id be fine with the 15A staying 12.3 if the R-27ER shit wasn’t 12.7. It becomes a problem of the AIM-7 being worse than the R-27ER, but the R-27ER being worse than the AMRAAM. Just too big of capability jumps. If the worse sensors of the 27ER were modeled in the game it could fit against a datalink sparrow (Aim7P I think…)
Went off on a bit of a tangent.
I think 11.7-12.7 should be 9L + 7F/M vs R-27R/T + R-73
13.0-13.7 could be 9M + 7P vs a nerfed R-27ER (ET there too but the ET is fine the way it is) + R-73
14.0+ would be FOX3s
The issue with that is the Hornet flight performance ain’t that great and could come now or this update which i doubt
I was hoping they’d save Aim-9M for those that are gunna be high and need the advantage. Like the FA2/AV-8B+
Adding 9Ms to the Gr7 was one of the worst decisions they’ve made in a while though. Kinda screwed over the Gr7 and reduced the benefit of the Gr9A
Sadly, I think the ship has sailed (pun) for the F-18A to be added and be competitive at top BR. If they wanted that to happen they should have added it sometime in 2023. It’s much like the ADF, no TWS on the radar and only sparrows.
With FOX3s coming, We’re entering into a good window for that now with the F-18C, I just pray to god they actually add it this time. Could be good for a lot of nations, not just the USA. Germany in particular comes to mind, where it could be added as a stopgap for the EF2000
Let’s be honest, the fact that the ERs were introduced with the mig 29 is a complete joke in itself. The base R27 were already more than competitive against what everyone else had, and the mig 29 used to also be one of the best airframe at introduction. The fact that they took 2 whole years to consider finally adding fox 3s for other countries to compete still baffles me to this day. They completely ruined the gameplay loop imo as they forced a ground hogging gameplay for everything that can’t lob ERs. That is especially shown with the ARH test were far more people were flying high, not only to test their missiles, but also because as they had pretty similar performances, the fight were far more even.
I completely agree with your stance that the ER should stay in the FOX 3 league while regular R27 are more than sufficient in the AIM7 - R530 bracket
Would have also meant that F3 with Skyslug STs could have been higher and still reasonably competitve because theyd be ever so slightly better than all other SARH.
I think the war thunder community made a big mistake by getting so angry about the R-73 on the 9-13 when Apex Predators came out. I was one of those people that got mad, but I see now that keeping the R-73 away was what paved the way for the R-27ER to be added instead. R-73s are fairly easy to flare once you learn the technique. R-27ERs are just dominant if you don’t nap-of-the-earth fly. I hate how this game is just fly low simulator if you’re not a Russian.
I mean the F/A-18A+ can use said fancy missle. (90s Hoernt)
The only one that won’t come is the 80s F/A-18A or F/A-18A (early), which is sad as it was the one I wanted.
That’s how I feel. Why would we even add an F-18A+ with AMRAAMs when we could just add the F-18C? Same with the Eagles. A variant should be the Sparrow shooter and the C variant should be the AMRAAM shooter.
Why would it be a disaster? And how?
The obvious answer seems to be the F-15J MSIP, which also like you said would give some C&P to US/Israel.
There is the option of a sub-tree addition like Thai/ASEAN option which could be probably an F-16 or Gripen, depending on nation.
Now of course there is the F-2 but I highly doubt they’d add that with ARHs and since the update is ARH focused, it’s moot.
I wouldn’t see why it would. It’s basically in general agreement that F-15C with AIM-120s would be a balanced counter to SU-27 and R-27ERs. Given the nature of air RB, it would give actually give some life to BVR combat as opposed to not bothering with it since R-27s just dominate.
What would what be a disaster?
Yeah. Not very studied on Japanese aircraft but they seem to be in a rough spot right now in regards to things they can add. I heard about a Japanese F-15 that carried just regular AMRAAMs, I think that would be the only good option (that I know of). Game isn’t ready for a flying pantsir (radar wise) yet.
Hell, in my opinion the game wasn’t even ready for the non-flying pantsir, but what can you do?
At first they had only received TAM series for relatively valid reasons, with it being based on the Marder.
The only non-TAM vehicle in Germany other than that is the JaPz.K A2, but this was initially meant to be the SK-105 that currently resides in France. Due to community outcry that change happened.
FMA IA 58 is also in files for Germany, but idk how much that counts considering it hasn’t been added for so many years after it’s discovery.
If the update wasn’t ARH focused, they could add the F-2 early with SARH missiles as that’s all it ever used. Since AIM-7Ms don’t have datalink and have their own seeker, they wouldn’t be any different than now. All you’d get is better TWS situational awareness.
But since the update is ARH focused and Japan has to get one, it kinda rules out the F-2 unless they decided for some reason to add the F-2 late with AAM-4 or just substituted the AIM-120B ahistorically. That’d seem really atypical since they’re already padding out the F-15J with early and MSIP variants, so I’d assume they’d do the same with the F-2 (XF-2 early/late, F-2 early/late).
Yeah, but to be fair I dont see much else they can do. Just not enough different aircraft types that Japan made…
Thai F-16 is my bet
I guess so, forgot that they started doing that for Japan.
I feel a Thai Gripen
