just around 20 years
the project had a lot of lets call it political trouble
there was a lot of fighting over technical details between the german and french MODs resulting in the french abandoning the combined PARS programm and essentially making their own Helicopter
then they require a good amount of maintenance, which the german army didn’t get the budget for so it also has a questionable safety record and a Low combat reliabillity due to that
this all lead to the will to abandon the Airframe even tho it still has a lot of potential if they were to adress the problems
call them by their name, french being french

I refuse, it worked with the AlphaJet and Milan so I belive it can work
its just that both the french and the german military are known for being Nitpicking and a little bratty with their stuff

alphajet and milan sadly are very very rare exceptions if one looks overall the different problems.
Hell even our alphajets werent the same and we ended up with essentialy different version because wer werent able to get to 1 result
that whole programm is ducking us over again ,because france wanna force telescope ammunation to the new main caliber guns of the mbts

either way it would work if either military was a little more open to the other’s plans, the Eurofighter worked that way essentially we basically paid the brits to finish their EAP and helped them where we could
but that’s not a topic for this forum, it fits much better at a Stammtisch

iirc at least teh GDR/Luftwaffe MiG-29 Trainers couldnt’t use Radar guided weapons such as R-27 so I don’t think they’re worth adding as top planes

I’m still annoyed over the treatment of the EAP and then we got the King Tiger for Sweden.
Denied because it was a demonstrator.
Denied because it couldn’t fire it’s missiles.
Denied because it wasn’t in service.
The Swedish have smashed these rules time and time again.
