Thankfully the FCAS aircraft will be overseen by Dassault even though the workshare has been divided fairly equally among the partners.
france and britain bailed on the boxer project and it worked (although britain rejoined towards the end). France bailed on the europanzer project aswell. The leo 1 was way more succesful and the boxer is a success too.
Surely the devs wouldn’t actually believe it would be on par with the AMX 10 RC?

A variant of a French Tiger sold more (unless you’re trying to tell me that the ATGM-less variant was a an export hit…). Germany’s far more specialised, so no surprise there (same reason why Puma isn’t a market hit despite being superior to most if not all IFVs in a significant amount of technical aspects).
Now take a look at what Flame2512 posted regarding what the UK said about Germany on the Eurofighter project, constantly demanding Eurofighter uses weaker radars (APG-65) and the weaker Hornet engines until they relented on the current Eurofighter radar. This was a big headache at the time.
“I know you’re trying to save up money because you’re paying the cost of unifying with the East, but plss dood choose this engine that may or may not work out, also use this radar that you had no hand in creating plss”.
It sure feels good to leave out the context behind Germany’s decision, doesn’t it?
Thankfully the FCAS aircraft will be overseen by Dassault even though the workshare has been divided fairly equally among the partners.
Thankfully MGCS is being overlooked by Germany.
Meanwhile Germany abandoned their Tigers now and ran straight to daddy America to buy Apaches instead of working on the Tiger Mk3 with their European fellows.
Lmao what? Germany bought the Apache? Last I checked they haven’t yet decided on the successor, so you’re straight up lying.
i thought h145M was chosen?
this could be wrong but I remember seeing something about how germany claimed they would purchase 1000 units of the EFT to get more say during its development and when it was done they cancelled a large majority of their order
I can’t say much on the Europanzer project since I don’t know much about it. One thing about France though, if they leave a project they’re making their own domestic options rather than runnning to Daddy America and bolstering industries that benefit from Europe not being independent.
They’re supplementing the fleet, not replacing it. Neither Bundestag nor BAAINBw decided yet on what to properly replace the KHT with. I’ve heard third party rumours that they’re somewhat interested in the new Italian design, but to repeat myself, third party (unconfirmed, hearsay, etc).
that’s mostly just aerospace, because german plane industry got killed after ww2 and the US is simply leading in most aerospace vehicles.
I dont think BeNeLux will be a sub-TT.
They have everything for a full scale independend TT.
Their prime area is naval - which is very big. Also their ground, helicopter and air TT’s are pretty big with much more to add then whats shown on the forums (the creators of the proposotion haven’t added every vehicle to the TT because it would otherwise be to big).
as proposed right now (from the excel spreadsheet i have acces to) - BeNeLux can provide around 500-600 vehicles (not taking the vehicles in account that haven’t been added to the proposition yet).
Funny enough, I have a book from Dassault on how much Eurofighters Germany and UK was going to order, and I recall it saying 100 aircraft each, with 150 to be ordered by France. I’ll see if I can post that when I get home.
Helicopters too if that isn’t already included in aerospace.
RWR as well.
So a European radar that Germany had no hand in creating is somehow worse than using…an American radar that Germany had no hand in creating? Does that make sense?
Costs can be recouped by sales, but as UK pointed out, if APG-65 and Hornet engines are used, export orders could be blocked by the US which would lead to losses of sales. At that point, you’re losing out on money.
I apologize, I was wrong on this aspect. Germany indeed hasn’t bought the Apaches, still doesn’t negate the fact that they bailed on Tiger Mk3 with France and Spain, and considered or is considering? AH-64E.
I’m not fan of this excuse.
Some countries ingame have made more than some others, and still get less.
If USA got a lot of planes, it’s not because of that, it’s just because a lot of players play USA air.
what the hell happened here
did we get a blog ?
Usual EAP+British vehicle discussion
oh im sorry, I think I started that by talking about X-31
But with Can Leo and Argentine flavour!
Absolutely nothing actually relevant to the topic. That much is for sure.
