Yeah it doesn’t restrict the light tanks coming, but it 100% slowed down the process of adding them.
When I asked I beleive the statement was like:
“Britain doesnt have anything to fill these gaps and so South Africa was added to fill these gaps”
We’ve been asking for things like the Scorpion for years and years and it has never happened. At this point, it probably wont happen as it has no where to go easily. That being said, the new shell shock mechanic might give value to HESH

Yeah, I don’t like these concepts because arguments such as “close proximity” or “shares continent” is very weak.

That combo could be very powerful, R-27ER is already dominating the game.
Gaijin stated they are coming, but they point is we won’t have a full line of them.

Yep, the sheer volume of light tanks we could have would fill 2 whole lines. But we dont have room for more than 2 or 3 tanks currently. Not without a full decompression or a 6th line (which they cant do)

Yes but with AMRAAM in the mix it would mainly cancel out overall, I was under the impression that they were made before R77 in the first place.
I dont know enough to state conclusively, but I thought they were a prototype or maybe a stopgap until R-77 or something. I just remember them not being fully used or something

The idea that subtrees should be part of the main tree instead of a separate tab is pretty terrible, but I think South Africa as a nation was probably the best subtree they’ve added
It brought no copy paste to the tree, unlike Finland which was 80% C&P
Yeah agreed…the problem wasn’t the nation in my opinion it was how they implemented it…as you said a tab would of been better

That was my impression also, being used as a stopgap until R77 production. Mig29 (mainly using R27 series) as an example could use them as a way to counter AMRAAM when implemented.
