Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

I guess I am just curious since the Snail hyper moderates, some would say censors, much of the forums and is very strict on what belongs where, but this post is pretty much whatever. Inconsistency is always curious even if it is no big deal. Not the end of the world and do not really care, so back to wishlisting please.

This is why I say to people rather get emotional about and cry in the corner.
Hear what people have to say if they know the game well.

I’ve been playing this game since 2016 and I’ve noticed a lot of patterns.
One of the are new nations.

Gaijin never added what I called rogue nations i.e add a nation where we don’t have a vehicle off already in the game.

Israel came from the US, France and Britain
Sweden came from Britain
Italy came from Germany
France from Britain
China came from US and Russia but they already had it on a private server before ours though.

My guess for the next new nation is pros a Czech-Polish combo.

It’s too much to assume a combination tree of nations would be the next things, though either one of the two could be very possible as the next.
Poland a higher chance if you ask me.

I can see this happening but under our current known rules one is a sub-tree of the other.

Tbh Poland would struggle alot in rank 2 - 4 in both ground and air.
Czechs however or more like Czechoslovakia are way more stronger.
Mainly due to Slovakia being a puppet of Germany.

So it may play out as the same as Sweden with Finland.
With Czechoslovakia being the main and Poland even though as a sub but still has a strong standing with in the tree.

Thank you

I am interested to hear your opinion on the possibility of a United Korea tree or a South Korea subtree since the Vidar is a South Korean K9 variant.

Poland would struggle no more than China would.

Well I’m not the one you asked but I like to say mine.
Well I don’t mind the Korea tree indeed however:

Not now. We don’t need another Israel style tree at this moment when we still have more then a handful of reserve trees that could come.

For a United Korea with North and South I wouldn’t care for but it’s better than ether being independent by itself.

Not only technologically it make more sense for them being together as SK uses some Soviet things too. But game mechanic wise too.

My personal views is that I wouldn’t like it as it’s yet another half nation.

But yea it will be ether a United Korea indi tree or Korea as a sub in china are the only ways I can see.

When it comes to the option of making the United Korean tech tree it has some very obvious advantages and disadvantages.

The advantages are mainly that the ground side of things would be very unique from rank V onwards, so the tree would be highly suited to be added in the same style as Israel was.
Additionally, both the Koreas are still big on developing new armaments and thus they have longevity beyond their current inventory.
It would also be a region that is of particular interest to many people, with both Koreas having famous militaries and recognizable hardware. This would mean that they would be good sellers for Gaijin and would likely have a more thriving playerbase than some other similarly good options such as Iran.

The disadvantages are just as obvious though.
The aviation side of things would be utterly pathetic when it comes to unique stuff. There would be no domestic airframes with the exception of the KAI T-50. Yes, there are some unique modifications such as the F-15K, but such aircraft modifications can be quite subjective in whether they are considered unique or not and can be quite controversial.
Much the same case is also present for the helicopter tree and naval trees.
As previously mentioned, the rank V+ would be a very strong place for the ground portion of this tree, but it would not be the case for anything of rank III or lower. Considering that this tree would likely be added as an Israeli styled rank IV+ we can assume that the lower tiers would be left missing from this concept. Some people consider this positive, others don’t, it is again a controversial case.
The last potential problem could fittingly be the controversy. The DPRK and ROK are obvious adversaries and putting them together could raise many eyebrows, much like putting the PRC and ROC in the same tree was.

Overall I’d definitely put this tree on the table as a valid option, though there are some other arguably better options too like user StormRyder said.
Despite all the downsides I would argue that the United Korean tree or independent South-Korean tree with North-Korean sub-tree are some of the most likely options for what could be the next independent country(s), as Gaijin themselves expressed verbal interest in the region.

Agreed and thank you both. It will be interesting to see how and when they bring the Koreas into game. Looking forward to S Korean high tier ground.

I haven’t touched on the prospect of either North- or South-Korea becoming sub-trees, but these are some possibilities too.

You are likely aware of the demand that exists for Japan to receive a supporting country and many believe that South-Korea could be the best and/or most likely option for this.
South Korea largely helps Japan in the areas where they lack the most and both have a western-character, which is an appreciated and clear aesthetic for many people.
There are, however, a lot of controversies surrounding this idea. In no small part is this because of Japanese actions during the occupations of Korea, which are still a cultural trauma for the Koreans and can spark tension between the peoples involved.
There is also no clear military connection between the two countries to make them share a tree, but this is all things considered a lesser issue when looking at sub-trees.

For North-Korea there also exists a large consensus that it could be a sub-tree for China, though there are a lot of critics of this idea as well, since the North-Korean military has surprisingly little connections with that of the Chinese too. It is more related to that of the USSR and Iran.

Yugoslavia with Romania sub-tree
Argentina with Brazil sub-tree
Czechoslovakia with Poland sub-tree
Netherlands with Belgium sub-tree
Switzerland with Austria sub-tree
Canada with Australia sub-tree
South Korea with North Korea sub-tree
Thailand sub-tree for Japan
Pakistan sub-tree for China

Yes please! This I like to see!

I mean to be far I’m not a fan of this Israel style trees in general.

But then again outside of Canadian stuff my interest lies in WW2.

And so the post war trees aren’t my thing. So I’d much rather see said types of tree until we both and east and west(?) full tree.

So something for the Warsaw pact (we don’t exactly got Axis nations left) so like Deathmisser was say Poland or Czechoslovakia. Yugoslavia would count as an “eastern” but it’s not exactly Warsaw and more of its own thing.

“Western” would be Allied-NATO(BlueFor) so something for the Benelux or the remaining 3 British Dominions.

These nations are already in use as subtrees to existing trees, it 's very unlikely we’ll see them elsewhere.

They are not

Romania has a few aircraft in the Italian tree, but no formal sub-tree
Much the same case for Argentina in German ground.

They were the first subtree to be formalized: [Development] I.A.R. 81-C: Supporting the Axis - News - War Thunder

No, they are not.

Sub-trees are a full line of researchable vehicles and come announced as major additions in the game, trailer and all.
This is no sub-tree, because all Romanian stuff in the Italian tree is premium with the exception of the S.M. 79 B.
