Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Funny enough, the new Su-57S is supposed to have the Izdeliye-30 (AL-51) which will be TVC, but also flat coned, for better stealth characteristics. I can’t wait to see if it’s that gaudy or not.

Wouldn’t mid seeing a TVC mig29 down the line would be cool

Everyone keeps talking about the most modern vehicles there are.

Meanwhile i’m advocating for some Japanese, Italian and French super-prop, and strike planes.

Honestly I know little to nothing about Russian aircraft other than like entry level stuff i’m not well versed in the design beauro’s etc. But I’m glad to be of use.

Facts.

Yep but I agree I think the Mig-29M/OVT would be the next logical step for Russia, particularly as if Gaijin did want to introduce things like the R27EA against the AMRAAM (despite that being woefully unbalanced vs the A&B) the Fulcrum would be much more limited numerically in terms of armament.

I don’t worry too much about Flanker supermaneuverability unless its stall fighting.

The only other option to the Fulcrum-M would be a limited Flanker which I just cannot imagine Gaijin doing.

Like, Italy still has so many option to get. Almost 150 new aircraft could be added to italy that were made and developed by italy.

I’d like the MK.21E or the Mk.23 (my beloved) spitfire’s too as the final elliptical spitfires and the only Mk.20 spitfires with elliptical and razor sharp wings.

The best looking spitfire

Prototype Spitfire F21 PP139

I’m not sure France actually has any super-props the same for Italy but if they do I’d like to see those.

I’d also like to see some of Britain’s meta aircraft get added such as the Gnat, Type 545, Sea Vixen FAW.1 etcetera.

Also would be good to see France get IFV’s…

And for god’s sake add some French, Italian and British ships particularly top tier ships like the Dunkerque and Strasbourg, Francessco Carriocolo (poor spelling), and the R and QE class.

The only problem I’ll have, mostly because it’s not realistic is if they do the OVT or the 35 with both TVC and AESA radar. Every radar change requires at a bare minimum, of a retuning of the flight computer, and typically a redesign of the radome, additional power requirements, and sometimes even reshaping of the fuselage.

This is the biggest reason why China stuck with it’s domestically produced AESA’s instead of integrating a special Chinese export version of the N035 Irbis proposed by Phazotron-NIIR as it was considerably heavier, and would’ve require a reshaping of the LERX’s to add canards to keep the AOA at an acceptable level.

Biggest problem with Russia AESA’s is they are too heavy and haven’t been scalable for most planes in the fleet. In spite of potentially two different AESA’s being tested in flight (not sure if they even made it that far), both were rejected for weight and size. In other words, they can give us a MiG-35 with TVC, but I really don’t think an AESA is appropriate unless Russia actually develops one for mass production between now and whenever the MiG-35 comes to War Thunder.

I believe Su-30M should be the next Flanker introduced because of this. Still not supermaneuverable, slightly bigger as a two seater, yet has A2G weaponry and a new radar for R-77’s when they come.

Yeah seems most likely

That would be a good choice for the next Flanker sounds decently balanced compared to the future prospectives of other nations. That said I know near nothing about Flankers.

In my mind the next addition to Russian top tier air should be the Mig-29OVT/29M followed by the SU-30M.

I think if the EF and Rafael come, the Su-27SM may not be good enough, and it’s a hard sell to everyone else apparently, but I don’t see how the Su-30SM or Su-35 doesn’t come with them.

I doubt the EF and Rafale come any time soon but if they do then I would be expecting the later Flanker derivatives. Particularly as there are British MoD documents which suggest even the earliest CAPTOR variants (which by the way are mechanical-scan) could detect Flankers 20KM before Flankers (with PESA i think) could detect them.

SU-35 would be more of a Eurofighter Tranche 3/A or Tranche 4 and Rafale F.3/F.4 standard, kind of competitor though hence why I don’t see them anytime soon.

(I really don’t know much about Flankers just the base SU-27, the MKI and the SU-35).

J35XS anyone?

I’m not sure Myech is PESA. I have a feeling that document is old enough, based on the little I know about the EF, that it’s probably referring to the Flanker we currently have in game. 27SM, 30, 30M, and beyond all have some version of the Bars radar, which is the first true PESA for the Flanker, those all basically came out around the late 90’s, so I believe that would be into Tranche 2 of the EF, no?

MKI is the first Flanker-H, minus nation specific electronics, it’s the exact same plane as the Su-30SM. Canards, TVC, Bars (upgraded to Irbis later).

Eurofighter officially entered service in 2004 so it would be Tranche 1. The main thing would likely be the Flanker being huge, this document directly compared Flanker detecting Eurofighter with Eurofighter detecting Flanker so its very much a case of which is huge and which isn’t in addition to radar quality.

Ahhh I see, I presumed in russian service it would be called the M or something.

These still use N001 (V / V(E)P) with new fire-control. Su-30SM, Su-35 and SU-35S use PESA (and some demonstators but yea).

Sure. But I would venture to say the radar they compared with was the Myech, not Bars, so I think you’d have to do a different comparison to 30SM and 35 and the few SM3’s still around.

Yeah probably I ain’t got a clue I should probably find the document now as it would be useful.

Edit: Found it
