How many planes ever mounted the A model?
Since the J-8F is supposed to get them as part of the initial introduction of MR-ARH( according to it 's devblog ), and the Swedish JAS 39C( planned to be added in the 1st update 2024 ) may possibly have AMRAAM to differentiate it from the preceding 39A, it might be that we’ll see that weapon ingame as soon as two months from now.

Most definitely as the A we have in game for all intensive purposes is a C so giveing the Swedish Gripen C when it comes AMRAAMS would help differentiate it
But that means everyone else is gonna get some thing with AMRAAMS as well thats just as capable hopefully
Watch them not add the F-4F ICE and give the same “the model’s not ready” excuse that they’ve given for every German top tier jet being added after other nations.

Its fine. Today i did top tier with the ASA and it is all good.
From the ones possible in the near future I’d say potentially F-4F ICE, F-16C, F-15C, F/A-18C and so on. As you can see mostly American aircrafts. That’s because most nations didn’t bother with A model and simply waited for mature-design AIM-120B.
Watch them release it with the same early Phantom cockpit and call it a day.

thats probably all the more reason why the game is going to make that jump, especially when you consider that the R-77 is closer to B than A in terms of performance as well, and its the first Fox 3 the soviets will get.
thats my theory as well. it seems that were gonna get R-77, PL-12, and AIM-120B’s as our starters

B isn’t a jump. Not even the basic C is. Difference between AIM-120A and AIM-120B is smaller than between AIM-7F and AIM-7M.
B is literally the A but without early design flaws and with QOL improvements while C is literally 1:1 B model but with clipped wing surfaces decreasing max pull (estimated ~35G to ~30G) and increasing max range to around 100km.
AIM-120C-5 would be the real deal

the AMRAAM wont even match the R-27E series in speed or range until the C-5
I felt for Russia the R-27EA is a good start, since the R-77 is rather worse in range with better tracking

The AIM-120A and B are, for in game purposes, effectively identical.
Apparently there are 3 R-77 versions to chose from - R-77, R-77-1 and R-77M with 80km, 110km and 193km ranges. So we could potentially get:
- AIM-120Bs for 3+ gens to give them that extra capability against R-27ER
- AIM-120C(1-4) for current 4th gens (mid 4th gens) to counter basic R-77
- AIM-120C(5-7) to counter R-77-1
- AIM-120D to counter R-77M
Idk about chinese missiles but afaik PL-12 should be around AIM-120C-5 level.
For Chinese ARH missiles, there’s also the PL-15, which, to my knowledge, is an AIM-120D contemporary, and then also the PL-17 and PL-21 for Meteor/R-37/AIM-260 contemporaries (I’m not sure about the specifics of the performance of these two missiles, so take that statement with a grain of salt).
