That drives me nuts too.
Especially when STT auto-swaps and blocks you from using Fox-3s as well.
I tried to ping mods with clips at hand but no one replied to me except for Gunjob, but issue still there ofc…

Unironically it was the SM back then, and eurofighters, but it was to fix the annoying IR/PD autoswitch that blocked Fox-3 launches.
Now it’s basically every ESM capable Ru and China jet (that has an IRST ofc).
game has always been quite buggy but damn the more majors come out the more it’s visible how nimble the code of the game is (who knows if it is truly AI coded like a certain advertisement site implicates :)) you cannot add one BS properly that it breaks 2 or 3 others, we arrived at a point that we do a bingo of what it will be broken each patch…what a disaster…
Though if im not mistaken, only the EFTs get blocked now when STT swaps to IRST.

Tried to replicate with my german Aesa Eurofighter, but in no way I was able to fire through PIRATE, and that’s because the Euro doesn’t have ESM for some unlogical reason.
Yep. half the issue is the underlying foundational code is broken or hopelessly inadequate
