The 39-7 was a testbed as i said. Gripen ng was a pitch name for the countries like brazil. They modified it to see if they could fit a bigger radar and better engines, and some more stuff. Once the aircraft was proven by 39-7, the aircraft needed to be certified by military authorities.
The offical designation for the single seat aircraft was jas39e. 39-8, 39-9, etc were the final certified production aircrafts. It was no longer to demonstrate if the concept works, but that the final product meet all safety, performance and weapons standards.

Only PD MAWS.
Most MAWS though wouldnt necessarily detect a long ranged launch
I’m not sure about MAWS outside of the F-111s, but plenty of planes at that BR range have missile launch detection via their RWR
Harrier T10, A-10C, F-111s are the 3 that come to mind
