Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

I think so too

Honestly, I think that it being a separate gamemode will likely mean it’ll be practically dead on arrival

at least now we know why the last updates were so small

eh I don’t think so

Ill have to look for myself

I think we fan agree that it won’t compare to other currently released shooters tho

I am afraid that the introduction of infantry will mean that future updates are going to be so small as well

well it was kinda inevitable as the top tech of Air and Ground approached the modern time

Warthunder is a Service game, it’ll die once they stop adding new stuff, and infantry is another branch they can use to add 80 years of Tech to, just like Naval

I think that with this update Gaijin has fundamentally misunderstood what makes War Thunder the powerhouse that it is: It serves a particular niche that no other game has yet tried to fill.

Sure The Other Company exists, but its games are far more arcady then even arcade mode in WT, and don’t do cross-branch integration. Tanks fight tanks, ships fight ships, and planes fight planes.

By adding infantry, War Thunder is stepping out of its niche, and entering a zone that is already home to a very large amount of similar games. It will only make the game less competitive by actively seeking out a form of warfare-game that is being heavily contested.

Yeah, sadly you are right about that

Knowing that a huge part of the playerbase only cares about top tier Gaijin was bound to run out of vehicles and instead of focussing on the stuff thats still missing they would rather just add an entirely new branch

I just don’t get why it’s infantry. They advertise WT as vehicular combat game, infantry has never been mentioned until the april fools post

i doubt gaijin has what it takes to prosper in the very competitive industry of modern FPS games

This does not make sense. Even BVVD stated there are still plenty of gaps to fill. Reaching the modern day will not result in some giant brick wall of no more possible content.

Isn’t the Kfir C.10 just the new designation for the Kfir 2000?

Infantry looks like a money pit, and it looks like they are going to port a lot from Active matter or Enlisted.

Enlisted is recoverable from my perspective.

And being a money pit means there will be more anime copy pastes, low tier unauthentic packs, WTD61s, store vehicles replaced in every 4 months and out of nowhere sub trees.

Plus a lot of squadron vehicles. 6.6K research per day is a scam

They do not. That is a simple fact.

CoD can fuck-up time and time again, it is still a leviathan of FPS shooters. It’s brand alone will attract millions.

Gaijin simply does not have the name recognition to take on that and similar juggernaughts.

Aircraft, tanks and ships are not going anywhere. This is a seperate mode.

Is this a permanent mode?

Will we be able to use top tier tanks in infranty mode or just the ones in the trailer?

Older stuff apparently doesn’t make enough money, so they neglected that stuff

Rather than giving older stuff some more attention they’d rather add infantry to a game that people play for the vehicles

Hope it receives the same attention other gamemodes receive then, specifically WWM and Air RB EC.

I know, and I guess I didn’t explain what I meant with “Becoming less competitive”

By adding infantry Gaijin is splitting its resources into a new gamemode that, in all frankness, is highly likely going to be unable to compete with established FPS brands for player attraction and retention.

That is resources not spent on the parts of War Thunder that make it succesful, and hence it slows down the growth of that success, making the game less competitive because it is no longer investing as many resources on what makes it great and what is attracting the most new players.

Will it have one realism variant or arcade and realistic (or even sim) like the other major game modes?
