I don’t think it’s comparable. The subtree rework actually reworks progression, national organization and represents the placements of nations in game.
This new feature is just silly customization for those that feel like it. It doesn’t even represent national placement. Italy for example won’t be split because you can now call Germany Italy too, and the same goes for any subtrees that previously had one off vehicles in other nations.

Yes, I wouldn’t mind either. The idea is likely the best way forward for most nations, not including those obviously deserving of their own trees, Yugoslavia, Korea etc.

At 13.7 it would be a much worse su-27sm with 2 less missiles and much worse flight performance and weaker engine
