If you want the full IAR 81/80 experience then I suggest you try out IL-2 great battles IAR 80 series which is also been made by 3rd party devs iirc.
I don’t get “their style doesn’t fit the TT” argument, so maybe they should move all Hungarian vehicles into premium section?

I have both IAR planes in WT, but I wish other variants would come to the regular tree, as it would benefit a lot from them.
They are interesting planes and not bad gameplay wise, way better than full copypaste from “major” nations.
Hungary will have similar aircraft to italy if not outright having a few Italian export, their size made them suitable candidates to be a sub. Italy has 109’s so does Hungary, Hungary used the Re.2000’s that’s an Italian aircraft. Also most of Hungarian mid tier aircraft are in the premium section.

Btw Romania also used multiple Italian models, one of which we already have in the game (SM.79B) and 109s…
Hungary was chosen mainly to give Italy top tier jet at the time (Gripen) and adequate top tier MBT (2A7HU), plus some meta vehicles to fill lineups and avoid playing non-meta Italian vehicles (like MiG-21s to avoid playing overtiered F-104s or MiG-15/17 to avoid playing overtiered Italian G.91s and etc).
Eventually, I still don’t see Hungary as the only subtree, it should be either Hungarian/Romanian subtree or some other nation subtree like Spanish maybe (still a lot of copypaste, but at least as you have said, the style of the TT would be saved), only issue would be a lack of heavy tank, but Gaijin made Tigris premium, so whatever.

Half the selling point of subtrees is to give the smaller, less well known nations a fixed home in game.
That is especially true for unique vehicles they bring. There’s no good reason to say a subtrees unique vehicles shouldn’t be in the main tree, aside from space issues that are really more on Gaijins implementation than the concept of subtrees itself.
Since the moment Romania became a subtree their vehicles can never “not fit the tree”, because it is in part a Romanian tree now.
