my guy it will only get better from here in terms of flare resistance. IIR missiles will have better flare resistance tham magic 2 , 9m , r73 , aam3 etc. they wont make it worse than these.

Whilst the EFT and Rafale are outliers. Is the F-15E/F-18C vs Su-30 in a WVR fight all that balanced?
Id imagine the Su-30 will get IR shot oppotunities far more often than the F-15E and F-18C
There are still ways to limit it. Like making them LOBL and having the lcok ranges be comprable to a lot of otehr things. Making the DL mostly only for HOBS
Like for example, they’ve done with every single IR Missile in game right now.

Well, if we are being true to the game, they are already on the same level. And I fully expect gaijin to just keep them at fov/shutoff and call it a day.

there was a very long time where all flares did was make it slightly easier to escape that AiM-9J that’s inescapable otherwise

Imo, IRCCM are stupidly easy to defeat anyway and should be a lot harder.
Though again. This is a video game. Gen 5 IRs could just be about Kinematic upgrades and not about seeker improvements. Much like theyve done with the C5

then why r u complaining about su30 being able to use r73 against f15/18 if its so easy to flare ? after 1-2 turns its a boat n free food for f15/18.

i kinda doubt a superhornet would be 14.3 material, sure it gets better avionics but the flight performance is way worse. aim9x likely wouldn’t change much as afaik the early ones are basically 9ms with TVC. the only way I could see it being 14.3 or higher is if they give it some gimmick like the aim 174 or 120C7
Yeah, it should be better, but im jsut guessing it will be 3 flare defeat rather than 1 most of the time

R-73 was seen as the Undefeatable missile that’ll overpower everything and end the game in the WVR area, that’s why the first MiG-29s only got R-60Ms

If the Hornet had a similar type of IR missile as the Su-30SM it might be pretty close in terms of IR shots opportunities, but with AIM-9Ms I think you are right.
But yeah the F-15E is getting gapped by every top tier plane up close regardless.

So whilst yes, Typhoon getting HOBS would push it ahead by the same amount. I think giving everyone HOBS is just the best way to keep things moving along in terms of balance without jumping things ahead to gen 5 aircraft

basically being able to shoot a missile without having your nose pointing at the target. Aim-9M I find that rarely works, but ive seen magic IIs and R-73s do 90+° turns
the first mig29s only got r60s cus people tested the r73 in the dev server and freaked out , it was literally impossible to flare and then gaijin had to nerf it to make it balanced. even if IIR missiles are added to those standards they will still be op.
