i think that’s probably when the first F-16s was introduced to the game
then again they don’t even model AESA correctly even now. so i don’t know what is it that overpowered

Yeah…with the way AESA performs they easily could of added XF-2 of some kind with sparrows and Aim-9Ls all the way back…especially since sparrows wouldn’t even take full advantage of the radar anyway you’d still need a full lock maybe better scan and better tracking from the mother plane but once the missile leaves its still just a sparrow…XF-2A would of avoided the whole F-16AJ drama which the only good thing would of been the MAVs it has but still.

Not only this but it wouldn’t have been op when stuff like the F-16C and MiG-29SMT was added. Sure 4 AIM-7Ms and 4 AIM-9Ls but like no HMD and AESA wouldn’t have even been modeled correctly at that point hell it isn’t modeled correctly right now from what I’ve seen its just a very fast mechanically scanned array radar.

Did you really just call the SMT op. An interesting descriptor and not one I would have chosen for sure.
It was (ish) when new. Being one of only a handful with IRCCM combined with the existing and definetly OP R-27ER (and with one of the better radars iirc too) and came out before the Mig-29G.
F-16C and Mig-29SMT were definetly the meta briefly.
(at least I hated trying to fight Mig-29SMTs in the Tornado F3 in ASB)
Absolutely chonky bird with 6 missiles of which two were actually useable (since r-73s were still prone to going into death spirals then). Very OP. Whereas F-16C dominated the close in fight (not the dogfight mind you) and would proceed to run rampant in GRB. It seems I have a very different memory of the time than yourselves.
Both US and Japan could get it since the USAF 428th FS technically operates them

Why not both? Also, looking at pictures of F-15SA there is clear visual difference in US flown and Saudi flown ones. (Lack of US style serial number on Saudi ones, USAF roundel vs Saudi roundel)

They may add AH-1Z late with more modern AGM as well as 9X-2
No I’m not calling it OP I am saying the F-2A would not be when the F-16C and MiG-29SMT were in the game. I am saying they were equivalents and should have been added at the same time.

It’s a step up from the 16C we have for sure. Not quite a block 70 standard level, I’d put it around the same level as the F-16E

I mean I’m was specifically referring to the F-2 with AIM-9Ls and AIM-7Ms which could have been introduced with the F-16C and MiG-29SMT as it would have trade offs with the both of them. With AAM-4s and AAM-3s it could have been added as soon as the Rafale and EF-2000 were added.
