Mate, they aren’t adding Battlefield-like gameplay. They are adding AI soldiers as targets. AI soldiers that just get knocked out when hit by 155mm HE
These age rating agencies have some weird rules and standards and factors like the game being third person, there being no blood and/or gore, players not controlling individual characters, etc all seem to be things that help achieving a lower age rating

I mean, the event is pretty short this year, so there is a chance of another one. But the FPV drones 100% were a prank. Ain’t no way they could bring in something like that without getting an 18+ rating.

As we have already mentioned in the article and the very post you quoted, WW1 aviation will be a key part of Aces of Thunder currently. Beyond that, we have 7 vehicles currently obtainable in the ongoing event in War Thunder currently.
The event is focused on the German Empire and Triple Entente (Great Britain, France, and Russia).
I’m highly doubtful without anything for it comings from the datamine.
Really more than anything this event has shown great war era does not fit in the game.
Every reserve biplane would dominate them so they need their own separate pool to play in, even on the weekend you’ll sometimes get minutes long queues for low tier air and I see little chance that’d stay populated more than a week after the initial interest wears off and people move on
Those planes cost just as much to model as any other one for something any rank I premium could grind every single one out in an hour and then move on, I find it unlikely even adding a single one to the tech tree would ever break even to say nothing of entire trees of them.
And as much as I don’t care for how grindy and monetized this game is I don’t fault them for continuing to invest in other revenue streams rather then putting all their eggs in a 12-13 year old basket.
Potentially cannibalizing sales of a new paid title they are spinning up for the sake of adding content to a F2P title does not make sense from a business perspective
So I’m content with the 7 free vehicles this event will give me.
But that just it, imagine if these were modern tanks during the rank IX event, then you have to play a sim only game separate from war thunder just think of the reaction. Why should WW1 be treated differently ?
WW1 doesn’t really have a place in War Thunder unless a major overhaul of the BR system takes place. It is what it is.
The event is nice, but only because you don’t have BT-5s and Pz.IIIs shredding you.
But WW1 is already here tho that the thing, why stop with one aircraft when others are already modeled and can be built around them.
