at some point they can put it onto F-15EX, F-16C.
fuel consumption would be quite the concern on the F-16, wouldnt it?
But why though? I mean I think they are too far deep into F-35 to switch back to F-16 enough to warrant 132’s
And EX is perfectly capable without them, it would be better yes, but is it worth the cost?
good question. then also slap CFTs. would be quite close to Block 60
Don’t they have digital engine controls for this?
Why?
Thats a Typhoon with Marte ER Anti-Ship missiles
No it doesnt. Equal perhaps, but I doubt better
A few maybe, but the Typhoon isnt exactly lacking in weapon choices from Brimstone and Spear to Storm Shadow and Taurus to about a dozen different GBUs.
Yes, Gripen E was designed to be more economical. That was a key part of it, but… that does also come with a reduction in performance.
atm the AMK kit is actually being worked on so from the looks of it, we will at least get a variant equipped with it, if anybody actually buys the kit is a different story
people also seem to forget the EFT was built for Europe not for outside export (which also means when anyone wants to sell their EFTs everyone needs to agree)
F-35 is cheaper… if discussion is about purchase price
from what i found the cost of the Gripen E is estimated at 85 million US$ and the EF at around 110 million US$ so it dosent even cost half as much as the gripen
and the F-35 was built for export because the US didnt want another F-22 situation where its way to expensive to actually built on their own
it wasnt,
he was just trying to spread Gripen propaganda
From what I understand though, its also the maintenance cost is much lower as well, about half
but even then you are only going to reach that difference in cost after 20 or 30 years if not more
Would be on development aircraft, and for that reason I think it’s about as likely as getting an F-15E with outer pylons and Taurus missile
Yeah, but from what I understand, that was a core part of Swedens plan. Knowing full well the Rafale and EFT already existed, adding a third euro-canard to compete was pretty dumb.
So instead they went for a different slice of the market
and would have the issue of who does it go to since pretty much everyone has a similar claim to it lol
Not even the F-22’s fault though, if they made the original 750 it would be much closer to the Typhoon unit cost
Maybe even cheaper
still its far cheaper if you get like 15 other countries to also foot the bill lol
same could be said about the EFT if everyone bought their full orders (if I remember right germany cancelled a lot)
How much did they really pay though? Imo the whole F-35 project should’ve just stayed between US and UK and then later been exported.
