Hehe
It wouldn’t be the “downgraded” armour config
i wonder who helped make the armour in the first place
People in all countries celebrate New Year and Christmas the same way). Merry Christmas.
On this one quartas might be right. I don’t know if the US at the time would have approved for it to receive DU armor or if it would have had export armor.
If the revolution was just delayed by few years i.e ~1985, we could’ve seen Shir-2 (Challenger-1 minus TOGS) galloping under Persian F-16s + A-10s and UK just inducting MBT 80 as FV4601 Challenger.
Challenger 2 would’ve come much later but could’ve been just the MBT-80 with 120mm smoothbore (replacing the 120mm rifled XL28 for NATO commonality) + turret bustle 1-piece ammo rack replacing the below the turret ring ammo stowage of 45 two-part rounds + other bits n bobs as fixes/upgrades.
The UK helped make the DU armour
The Brochure mentions full tech transfer and possible joint development
The UK was one only a few nations to be allowed DU from the US
It is how they got the DU for L26 and L27A1
Your name is a lie, where is the tea…Tim?!
Haha, jk.
Merry Christmas!
The UK helped make chobam. Chobam doesn’t have to include DU. I am not aware of an involvement UK had in the M1 getting DU armor. That being said you are right about the close partnership between the countries. Odds are good it would have been DU but not for certain.
Oh man I thought we were going to see some kulebyaka for a moment there!
Imagine it not being Christmas already for you Euros and Americans.
Idk but where I live we do “Christmas” at 24th so I’m already past that
Your place has it wrong, then.
For me you have ‘Kerstmisavond’ aka Christmas Eve on the 24th, First Christmas-day on the 25th and the second on the 26th. (although most presents in my country are still given by Saint Nicholas on the 5th or 6th of December, according to the pre-protestant introductions from the medieval times) Christmas eve is the one with all the festivities in close knit families, with some going to the late-night mass.
Then you have ‘Christmas’ on the 25th and 26th, but that’s more of the same really.
There are a lot of dates for these festivities and the 24th is one of the ‘right’ ones to partake in Christmas-like festivities. :)
We offered them 2A6’s for dirt cheap too… And cheap upgrades to 2A7 and later models… But UK Gov being UK Gov… If you wanna read up on it, lmk
