Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Python is better than the 9X in many ways, the Derby is just worse than the AMRAAM, but lots of countries buy it to avoid having to deal with the US as for non-allied nations that can be quite difficult

Screw it, throw in Singapore, get some leopards in there, too

Just saying I doubt they’d add them to China, assuming US gives them to Taiwan (which is kind of unlikely sadly)

Derby can be improved massively by just borrowing tech from the amraam to improve derby significantly to make it relevant for domestic israeli use.israel has hundreads of aim120Cs they can easily canibalize one of their stock amrram to reverse engineer the technologies to impliment them onto derby

If they do that, the US will likely cut them off from military support, the US is very protective of their tech, they don’t need to improve the Derby so long as they have AMRAAMs and billions in US support, if ties with the US sour, they can do it then, but they won’t jeopardize their relationship for something so minor

by the way the reason how israel was able to even begin is a2a missile family was when israel reverse engineered a aim 9b in the early 60s to make the shafrir missile which made the foundations for what later would be python

I mean that is the main issue, Taiwan isn’t going to get them, at least not for a long time.

But if they did, I think they’d have to give it to them, Taiwan isn’t a subtree and it would be weird to hold out on something like that, also like I said, the F-35 isn’t exactly exclusive, it’s already probably going to 8 of the 10 trees, what does it matter if it goes to a 9th?

And then watch the game crash, burn and die

dosent usa have quite leniency on allowing israel for things like that? israel is the only foreign operator to be able to customize the f35 with its own systems , am sure usa would allow israel under permission for some technology borrowing

Stealing US IP isn’t very cool

Potentially, though they’re still very protective of their radar tech which would be the main issue with the Israelis poking around inside an AMRAAM, I’m sure if they wanted to the Israelis could make better Fox 3s than they have, the I-Derby ER is pretty much as good as an AIM-120C-5, however unlike with IR missiles, integrating a new missile onto the F-15s fuselage pylons is tricky, and integrating a new missile into the internal bay of an F-35 is likely even harder, so the cost/benefit just isn’t there for them to try

Also, C-8 (export D) and 120D are cheaper and better than the I-Derby ER and they know US will deliver

Politically, an Azeri subtree to a hypothetical Turkish tree makes a lot of sense, but realistically there isn’t enough for there to be a Turkish tree in the first place, let alone an Azeri subtree.

The US is more likely to cut off aid to Ukraine than Israel at this point, Israel has nothing to worry about.

And they’ll still develop their own weapons anyways, the arms industry is on the rise again after all and selling to countries the US won’t is great business, especially while the Russians have nothing left they can sell

I never said anything about aid getting cut off, just that amraam is cheaper and better (but if they did full on just steal US IP and use it for a missile competing with US products the aid probably would be cut off)

They probably will develop some more stuff, but I do have hope for the future of US shorter range missiles with the peregrine missile, apparently has amraam range, aim9x maneuverability and a tri mode seeker

@Smin1080p_WT Is there any news related to further improvements of DLSS now that DLSS4 is coming and is there any news on when we could expect frame generation implementation?

This is the bit I was getting at, why steal and lose out on the biggest arms market in the world, just so you can make your own thing that may or may not be as good?

And yeah, missiles specialized for use in internal weapons bays will be a big step forward, one of the major issues with the AIM-9X and similar missiles is that is has to ignite on the rail, so you need to do fancy things to get it to work indoors

that does sound a little too good to be true, definitely the sort of thing you have to see to believe

9X manueverability I can believe, tri-mode seeker I can believe (look at GBU-53 which was successfully fired 13 years ago) but amraam range only achievable with special dual pulse motor (which already exist(

It pushes the boundary of what has been done but I don’t think it is impossible

Yeah, maneuverability just comes from TVC and clever aerodynamics, that’s easy, the seeker as well is easy enough, though I’d question the effectiveness of the radar against stealth aircraft personally.

But the range seems like the sort of thing you just need fuel mass for, and with how short it is, that’s hard to believe, at least for something traveling fast enough to be a threat, maybe if it was subsonic with little wings, but not supersonic A2A missile

The american fanaticism for israel is literally a religion.
