I would say that Australia was “Truly” allied with the US in 1952 after a Security Pact directly with the US and New Zealand.
youre getting Dominiondom and independance confused. The commonwealth of Australia was still directly under the British crown until the Australia act of 1986.

this is bait. Australia got hit by the same Japanese group that did Pearl harbour but by the whole fleet. They had no choice but to be involved more than already. they had declared war on germany in 1939 as part of Britain already but this made them another front
